The Bush Administration has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the country rather than German which was the other possibility. As part of the negotiations, The Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5 year phase-in plan that would be known as "Euro-English".

In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favor of the "k". This should klear up konfusion and keyboards kan have 1 less letter. There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year, when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like"fotograf" 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be ekspekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkorage the removal of double letters, which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horible mes of the silent "e"s in the language is disgraseful, and they should go away.

By the fourth year, peopl wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v". During ze fifz year, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and similar changes vud of kors be aplid to ozer kombinations of leters.

LOL. Why does America suck so badly at speaking/writing in English?  I feel like all I ever to is correct basic grammar and spelling errors of everyone I know.  (and then mess up and look like a moron).

Our founding fathers would be so disappointed in the mess we've made.  Why that teacher felt it was necessary to post what he did the way he did I cannot say I fully understand.  I do understand why he felt that way, and the frustration, etc. because we all feel that way about something.  Unfortunately, freedom of speech is an iffy issue right now, and people are overly sensitive about sarcasm, assuming any of them even understand it, or can read past something to understand the anger and hurt that fuels it.  Granted, it is not always easy to know when people are being sarcastic in writing (did he forget his sarcasm flag?  maybe that would have helped) as there is no voice inflection or body language to observe, but come on, people!  I'm not the brightest bulb in the box and the am the first to admit it, but I hope I'm not so dumb to not understand the simple things!  (and then call the cops when it's clearly unnecessary.  Though it was clearly not clear to the person who called the cops.  Clearly.)

The whole "I may disagree with what you say but will defend to the death your right to say it" principle is becoming lost in some/many areas.
