Title: Linked In Job Suggestions
Post by: BizB on April 22, 2014, 07:40:56 AM
I'm putting this in Entertainment because, I get a kick out of their suggestions every time they send them.

My resume, for those who don't know, shows that I have been a computer programmer for 17 years - currently working for a marketing research firm - and that, with the aid of an MBA earned in 2012, I have climbed my way into IT management.  I have the word "Director" in my title which explains many of their dumb suggestions - including "Funeral Director"

Today's Weird Tingly Feeling:
Global Chemist Manager
Eaton
Toledo, Ohio Area

Principal
Catholic Diocese of Toledo
Toledo, Ohio Area

Vice President of Rail Repair Operations
The Andersons, Inc.
Toledo, Ohio Area

In the spirit of Fake It Until You Make It, I think I will apply for the principal position.

Wow, I don't get anything like that.

I get suggestions that are actually career-appropriate, though they're never in a realistic geographic area for me, so I typically disregard them.

I haven't checked my email in months and recruiters basically go to the trash.

I've spent a lot of time, lately, trying to make LinkedIn go away, and *now* you tell me it's potentially full of comedy gold? Clearly I should have consulted you first.

LinkedIn keeps suggesting I apply for a) a sales position b) at my previous company, which has been slowly imploding for four years.

A most emphatic NO, sirs and madams.

There is the potential for some pretty incredible hilarity in that...

Considering they just fired their SVP of Sales & Marketing on the DL, I'd do it for free just for the lulz.
