which we tend to try to bring with us everywhere we go and then leave them in place there.

As fanatic as Jehova witnesses at some point, I personally believe the US could lay low a little in that matter. Not every country appreciates this free delivery of democracy. For the rest I love you long time

But then again Wunderkind if you need to save data, try to download a HIRENS boot cd to get some of your data back. I take it it's XP  reinstalling it without formatting won't erase any data unless it's damaged.

There are two things in this world that I simply cannot stand

1. People intolerant of other cultures.
2. The Dutch.

 :w:

Of all people you should love our laws!

And 12, you are right, every country has fucked up at one point or another but to state that the US has done more good then any other is a bit too patriotic.
Simply because you achieved a lot but fucked up a lot of times. I think you have the same balance like most western European countries.
And based on my own opinion and experiences Americans tend to forget failure very easy, especially when it comes to warfare.

Now NOOB please don't derail this thread and don't turn it into a mud throwing festival, we have enough of those already.

Hohohoho

I never said I agree with that opinion. I am just stating where Terahammer's remark comes from.

And 12, actually no.

The official Dutch media is, and that is required by law, as neutral as possible. They are in no way as divided as the US media.Of course you have the left en and right media but the national broadcast (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nederlandse_Omroep_Stichting) takes hardly any stand.

Stereotyping.

Average American is judging without sufficient background info, has no clue where Europe even is and bends statistics in his favour to win the argument.Bill is living proof. A stereotype American.

The fun part of it all was that Bill's ears were washed with statistics and countered that by mentioning that we do average statistics different in the Netherlands. That was pretty stupid, an average is an average.

That is the movie where this is all about.

So I figured since I've been AWOL for ages, I'd reintroduce myself for the benefit of people who joined since I was last active.

Hi. I'm Phyre, otherwise known as Math. I'm from HN, and I know Detta personally.

Now I know why Detta likes you...

Who is this Bill O' Reilly? There was an item on Dutch tv about how he is bashing our little capitol and how some Dutch guy is reacting to that.

Look on youtube for "the truth about amsterdam" for background info

Who is this fossil?

Try Stephen Kings Dark Tower series. If you like that you have enough for the next year.

Start with the Gunslinger.

Something dutch:

Harry Mulisch  - The Assault

"A stunning novelization that explores the themes of guilt and innocence using a single devastating incident in the life of a Dutch child who survives the Nazi occupation of Holland. He reaches adulthood not fully understanding all that went wrong, the domino effect of one act of violence which cost him his family and the life they shared. Through a series of encounters with those in his past we learn the complex truth about this one moment in time. It reminds one that it is all too easy to assign blame without knowing all the facts. Once all the layers of the onion are peeled away every act of courage revealed, as well as the unintended consequences of making honorable choices."

Yeh socialism.

But seriously that is why you call it a society and a healthcare system, and yes then you pay for people who don't take care of themselves.

If you choose a system where you don't pay for others and only for yourselve(s) you are fucked when you(who does take care of herself) gets unlucky and gets diagnosed with something serious. Because that is unaffordable.

A healthcare system works because of the fact that everybody pays and still the major part of those people only get a flew shot.

I do share your irritation Detta but unfortunately that is the way it works.
