All my know-how (limited as it is) is purely for my own enjoyment.  That way, if I screw up, I'm the only one that gets upset.  I haven't fully decided what I'm going to do, but it's going to be science-related.  either that, or I could hold a sign out on the street saying "Will work for bandwidth/pc parts."  :D

yeah, I was a chem major.. not that I finished or ever did anything with it.  But I enjoy analytical and physical chemistry.  Only computer class I ever took was a crappy fortran class.

I find that one nice thing about computers as a hobby is that there is so much you can immediately try once you read about it.  I can read about how to build a skyscraper, but I can't try my hand at it at 3AM, right here, right now, if I feel like it.  I can, however, read about writing some code to to do 3-D object modeling and try my hand at it at 3AM if I so choose.

that's okay.. I think we should have a new thread anyway and have it pose the question:

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Well, I'm grown up now ( 45 later this year ), so I guess I will always now be "What I am".

However, I like to reflect from time to time if I had my time over again what different trail down the road of life I might have took - Journalist, Author, Policeman to mention just a few that spring to mind.

I think back to when I was about 21 and reflect on my life then, not realising at the time that one day I would start to grow older !

Rotgut feeling in a nostalgic mood.

hmmmm...debating whether I would consider 45 grown-up... no.. not if you are male.  Better start thinking what you'll want to be then!

So then, I propose a question to ya:

How old are you, exactly?

Dark Shade you never ask a lady her age.  Didn't yo' mama teach you nothin'?

Now on the other hand pictures could tell you a lot.

Apparently not wise enough.

In years not that old I suppose.
But I feel old compared to this crowd and.. it feels like forever ago that I was 'into' computers.  Let's leave it at this.. I'm old enough to drink and young enough that I can still pick up a guy at a bar (maybe it's a little closer to closing time than it used to be.. but I can still do it)
