XP Problem (hard to believe, isn't it?)
« on: October 17, 2004, 07:34:40 PM »

OK, I can't figure this out, maybe you guys can. Here is my problem.

I start up XP, it gets past the loading screen and then my monitor is blank for a second then goes into standby. It won't come out. The only thing that I did before restarting was defragmenting and disk cleaning. I can only go into the safe modes, I even tried "last known good configuration." I am currently posting from "safe mode with networking," if I can get a prompt response it would be much abliged. I will keep googling and let you know if I come up with anything.

If it's going into standby, it sounds like your power saving settings are screwy, either within XP or in your BIOS.

The problem is choice. The fact is, you're running Windows XP to begin with.

Try another OS like...oh, I dunno...

Actually, I did have Mandrake Linux 10 on here for a while, but since I only have 40gigs I would rather have only one OS, not a dual boot.

Okay, I got it fixed. All I had to do was reinstall my video card drivers, thanks for the help anyways. :)
