if they are .mov, download quicktime www.quicktime.com

or, if they are .avi, download divx www.divx.com

you can use the divx player to play divx avi's.  divx is a way to compress video like movies down to a smaller size so they are not huge

Yea just try and play them on all software you have - DivX should work fine with such files and I've also found that Winamp3 can play some of .avi files. Best idea - before undertaking such large downloads - is to try and send messages to the people your downloading from and ask them whether the file is o.k. Most people will reply and they'lll be pretty honest plus it saves you spending hours on a dud file.

you can also get some plug ins for Windows media - it called summat like a DivX condec I think (or so I've been told...) - which will allow you to play these files in it - All files I've donloaded (2 which both say they are for DiVX and are .avi files) play fine in Windows Media.

Most likely the videos that you have downloaded require the DivX codec like Hob and Sek have stated.

Or free from its home page; www.divx.com they have the codec by itself, and the player with the codec. the player isn't that bad, and i reccomend you use it for divx movies as it as not cluttered and less buggy.

No luck with Kazaa  :?

Admittedly all new releases are cams and stuff but you can still download most popular films that have been release on DvD - such as Terminator 2, Blade 2, The Die hard series and many more. Just search around and you'll find loads (just treat the Kazaa search thingy like a search engine and you'll get the hang of getting what you want outta it).

Phoenix, By Direct Connect do you mean FTP or is there another way?

Direct Connect is a program...... goto www.download.com and search for direct connect. It works great, you just connect to different hubs and they usually have about 10 tb of files on them. Some hubs make you share a certain amount before you can connect to them. It took me a few days to figure out how to use it.. but its worth it.

Would you say it has more variety than kazaa?

Yes, definately. Direct-Connect has so much more to offer than kazaa. There are hubs from different countries, some for music, some for movies, some for apps, and then there is some for a combination of all things. There are tons of movies on it and video games, but it all depends on what hub your connected to, so just find the one that suits you best and it should have what your looking for.
