Anyone have one or have any tips? I want to buy one for my brother, he's 14. I don't want to give him an expensive one in fear that he will break it, but also don't want to jip him. Right now I am looking at this one

You might want to check out Newegg.com for stuff like this.

The main thing with mp3 players is the size of the disk that they use to store things. Most of the time you can buy a larger flash media card which can hold more music and various other files. I believe they are up to a 256 megs CF card now. As long as you buy one that has removable media, you can always buy a larger CF card which can hold a lot more files, and you can even use more than one, but only one at a time. Just simply switch cards when needed.

Fuck yes I have tips...I have the Nomad Jukebox 10 gig

tip 1: do not fucking buy a player with less than 1 gig. Buying an mp3 player that has oh say the standard 64 megs is good if you want an hour of music with smaller "discs" but the big ass ones are great.

Mine, which cost 230$, Can hold about 666 medium sized albums. BUY IT!
Saves you money from buying 666 cds..

I'm seriously considering buying the PC version of the Apple iPod... it's consistently the top-rated MP3 player (by a long ways), and costs the same as others in its class.

Plus because the new ones are like 20 gigs (basically they're portable hard-drives), I can hold like four times the MP3's that I currently even HAVE, unless I rip a bunch more of my CD's, which I just might do if I get one of these...

4 hour battery lift?  Ugh!  It takes me just under an hour to walk home from school, sure that amount of music would make it a better walk, but 4 hours... You'd need a seperate job just for batteries..

I have a rio-volt, one of the better ones, it plays mp3 cd's (about 200 songs a cd) and regular cd's... I love it...

It is pretty mean on the batteries though, unless you turn off the 2 minute shock protection.

I like the sony MP3 CD Players quite a bit.  I currently torn between the cheaper one that allows you to FF and REW on mp3 tracks, but the more expensive one is just sexy... and has a seperate line out, nice controls, remote port, and some other nice things.  But I think I'll go for the less expensive even though it isnt as fancy and has a smaller display.

But yeah, for 99 bucks it is a real steal...
