I thought I already posted this.

Anyway, that was my desktop on one of my workstations back when a single monitor was enough. Now with dual monitors on all my stations, any graphic whatsoever is just too distracting, so I set the background to solid black.

It's Fluxbox; while there is a way to make desktop shortcuts in Fluxbox, I don't typically bother.  The menu is so flexible and easy to customize that I never have any need for anything else.
