Greetings, fellow geeks, if that what you really are! This may seem presumptuous, but in my first post I intend to lay down the ground rules and differences between geeks, dorks, and nerds. I pray that you really are geeks.

Well, here goes:

Simply put, geeks are who we are because we set ourselves apart from mainstream society for a few different reasons: we dislike the corruption and unfairness of society as a whole, or we are just dissatisfied with our position in life. Geeks are the highest in way of ranking the three. Geeks like Sci-fi and Fantasy, especially Star Wars and LotR. We tend to play a good amount of video games and surf the 'net.

Dorks fall in the limbo-like middle as far as rank goes. Dorks don't have the knowledge of geeky things the way pure geeks do, but they're not altogether nerdy. Not quite good enough to be good, but not quite bad enough to be bad. They will join in with geeks and nerds alike in a game of Magic the Gathering, but the style of gameplay obviously differentiates the three classes.

The absolute lowest class is the nerds. Nerds, while brainy and good at video games, have an unnatural fear of sunlight and are pretty much antisocial. They speak their mind without thought, thus becoming tactless. They tend to adore Spock and logic, not to mention having no care about personal appearance. Now I'll refer to Revenge of the Nerds. The pocket protectors, thick glasses, horribly annoying laughs, and usually bad hygiene give a nerd away immediately. I pray none of you count yourself among these sad people.

Just wondering... I've been searching via google high, low, and everywhere in between for a good avatar, but can't seem to find one. Mind telling me where you got yours?

You can make an avatar out of anything. What interests you? Sports? Sci-fi? Movies? Music? Games? Nature? Do a google image search for whatever interests you and I'm sure you can find a source image you like.

Mine came from an image pack from the game Icewind Dale (I think).

I actually meant i couldn't find an image small enough to fit the requirements, and i'm not sure how to format a larger one to the smaller size.

I chose mine because of two reasons:

1) It's from a series of games that I count among my favorites (Command & Conquer)

2) It's pretty much what I look like in real life

Your definitions are sadly misguided. We all know that geeks are those who are a little different compared to the general population. Generally they will obsess over what it is they are a geek of. Hence a computer geek would obsess over computers, an engineering geek would tinker with whatever is at hand. A music geek would obsess over music, etc. A general geek will obsess over just about anything.

A dork on the other hand is someone who has gone beyond geekdom to where it is pathological. Most of these people have OCD and also play D&D

touche, pbsaurus. You're perrfectly right. However, the basis of my descriptions remains true; geeks are far superior to nerds. That is, unless you're in the mood for some tart candy.
