Back in the day (maybe almost a decade ago now), I found myself browsing the HN mainpage. I joined the forum after much lurking. I was a youngster and didn't contribute a whole lot, but I liked the community. I drifted away, and recalled the community one day when on a stint to try to complete partial memories from the past.

I'm looking for remnants of the HN forums. Who's here? Who's elsewhere? I still owe someone a photoshop of a 100-point buck, promised probably almost a decade ago.

Nowadays, I'm living in Cleveland Ohio, about to defend my Master's thesis in biomedical engineering on a topic in computational neuroscience. HN helped me get into computers when I didn't have many resources in the smaller town I grew up in.

No.

Nothing left but a few old images, and some vague memories of debauched wordplay and occasional flashes of brilliance.

Everything that was HN has scattered on the interwinds, but a few drifting motes have found their way here.

I did save the legendary Armando thread, but that may have been after your time.

Well, the reason it was squirelmasta772 in the first place was just because that was my AIM handle as well as my login for most everything else (the only thing left being my Photobucket account and Steam).

As for why I picked it in the first place for AIM . . I think it was something to do with that movie "Half Baked". The one where Chong was the squirrel master or something like that.

I was following this rabbit hole for a while, but can't log in. I'm not sure if that's because the db is nonexistent, I can't recall the correct pw, or because i never should have been able to log in through that portal.

Hackernetwork.com - I think it's time to start a wiki on it. There's a lot of HN material around. Demosteenz has a collection of images on his server that are from that time. I have some sigs and photoshops lying around somewhere from those days.

Yes, it was a brutal place indeed! Brutally hilarious I might add. You can imagine the influx of stoobie with a domain name like that. There were baninations every hour, and fun memorable ones every day. I wrote a song about an HN banning one day (and I am a horrible signer). The geekery is essentially HN with less traffic and prettier colors. Let's just say that there were practically no seconds chances at HN.

But forget about HN. Speaking of memorable momments - here is my favourite from the geekery: CLIXXORZ
