I'm a big fan of the "Something Good-Something Bad" threads. If you're going to bitch about your job or anything else, say something nice every once in a while, right? We have a "Bitch about your job" thread, so I'm making a thread (although sure to be much less visited because good news is so much less interesting) to celebrate the reason we keep doing it aside from the money.
People think that teaching must be very rewarding, however it seems as if it is become less so over the years. At least for me. But today I had one of those precious moments that they tell us exist.
I was at a 60th birthday party for one of my teacher friends who I love very much. A special ed teacher came to me telling me that she had her students (she's an English teacher) write an short essay about a role model that they have. A student in my 5th period class wrote about what a great teacher I am and how much I mean to her.
Really? Me?? 50 students make me feel like crap every day and it takes one to lift me above it.

PS. I hope this thread becomes almost half as popular as that other thread.

My company just gave me a stock grant of 650 shares to be vested over the next 3 years. It's probably a bribe to prevent poaching, but I'll take it!

I had enough money to spoil my sister for her birthday this year...poor kid deserves it!

What makes it all worth it? The swimming pools full of gold, of course.
