So I just installed mIrc on my work machine, and it keeps giving me a 'Software caused connection abort' error when trying to connect to the server.

Anyone have any suggestions? A different program, how to fix this problem, anything. Now that I am at a job where I -can- get back on teh IRC, I want to get back on teh IRC!

I just had this exact conversation with the folks in the office yesterday.

Some student came in to talk to us and we couldn't -wait- to get her out again. None of us could breathe for like twenty minutes after she was gone. It was horrible.

And don't even think about taking Dreadmist set pieces. Those are for locks.

And we -will- eat your face if you take them from us.

It's beyond the mere crushing of sensitive tissue. We're talking trauma to the testis, which are glands. It's like having your eyeballs gouged, or getting punched in the throat. But worse. The brain knows something really, really, really bad is happening.

Also they are connected to all manner of sensitive internal organs which get yanked out of place during a trauma to the balls themselves. That's one reason the pain radiates its way up into the torso so quickly.

Totally no pun intented, but an erection has no bone in it.  I don't think it'd show up on an x-ray without a bone.  As to your original question, if it's x-ray I'm more comfortable with it that I would be if it was just something that had the ability to render my clothing transparent.

If you read the article, it says thast the xray system they are using will show a high resolution outline of a person. Not skeleton, flesh.

I just started "Quicksilver", by Neal Stephenson.

Loved it. I have to reread it, though, and then the other two. I didn't havce the chance to finish the second one before I vanished from where they were for a while.

I have a serial killer fetish.

Does that mean that you, like, carry around the severed ear of a serial killer as a religious icon to boost your magical defenses or something?

Fetish

In my experience, ALL women hyperlink verbally.

But they still get upset when I try to 'click' on their 'links'.

DoC!  How are you, my man?  Haven't seen you but the once since you left for Basic.  Doing well?

(Sorry for the thread jack :P )

Moderately.

I am apparently too crazy to be in the Army, though (despite being the only remotely sane or effective person in my unit) and they sent me home.

So now I work at a college in the Classics department. I like it better. Less stupid people.

You?

You're still partly right, trekchick.  Standards haven't really been lowered in Basic, that I know of, but it seems like the training itself isn't as intensive as it used to be.  From what the newer guys have told me, it sounds like there's more classroom time and not as much marching and outdoors stuff as there used to be.  Plus the actual physical training isn't supposed to be as intensive as it was in the past.

Also, nominally they haven't lowered the standards in a lot of the MOS training at AIT, but -in actuality-... let's just say that I saw a lot of people graduate from 97B (counterintelligence) and 97E (interrogater) AIT who were incompetent enough that I'd fear for the safety of people who would have to work with them in a -noncombat- capacity...

Well, technically one at a time, yes.  I'm only human.  Mostly.

Someone has to debug the DemoBot. It's starting to think it's human again.

A hacker?  Wow... I'm... impressed.

Tell me, are you a white-hat or black-hat hacker

Welcome and stuff.

Now let's not pigeonhole him so quickly, he could be an axe-hacker, or a katana-hacker.

Or a herring-hacker, but I think those are more common in British forests.

I want to vote for both of the last two, but I ca'n't, so I guess it's just 'Drink Heavily' since the insane laughter usually follows that anyway.

I just finished listening to HP and the Order of the Phoenix.  Big enjoyment.

Hermione and Ron?  Why hadn't I picked up on that in the movies?

So much stuff from the books gets cut... it's sad. Of course, it's either that or have every book after the third one be two or three movies.
