How do I actually buy a Domain name, how does it work

Hi, :slap
I want to know how I actually really buy a domain name for a number of years? I dont like this idea of renting the space and another company owning it? I want to own it. How does this work?

What you want is to become your own ICANN accredited registrar. Then, you won’t have to deal with other companies. You’ll also be able to get your domain names dirt-cheap. Something like US$0.25 each.

Of course there are some special fees required to be a registrar:

US$2,500 application fee.
US$4,000 per-year fee
Plus you’ll have to pay the quarterly variable fee (supposedly around US$10,000 annually).

Also, you’ll have to demonstrate that you have US$70,000+ in working capital.




None of that should be any problem for someone who really wants to own their domain name.
