There goes the neighbourhood...
« on: October 25, 2006, 07:39:01 AM »

Well, I've been reading the forums for a couple of months now and decided that I'd finally sign up and contribute somewhat to the ranting/flaming/whoring/etc.

A little background information; the name's egoflux (RL name Michael), I'm 17 next month, I live in Ireland, I like to use commas a lot,,,  :-D
Looking forward to some anarchy, technology debates and entertainment whoring... And, no, I don't do politics!

See you all on the boards!

I don't think someone who lives in Ireland would be wrong about his own feet..   :w:

Co. Antrim sucks, I don't blame you for coming here to escape.

I've lived on and (favorably) off that pitiful little Inis for 60 years, was born Dublin, moved down to cork city, the cobh for a while, and the Armagh. Can't stand belfast, though. Too many protestants. That's sort of the reason I try to stay out of country anymore - too many damned christians on both sides.

I think that we all missed something important here, however, and that was not what shoe size system you *use*, but how you put on your shoes. Are you stocking stocking shoe shoe* wellie, wellie, or stocking shoe wellie, stocking shoe wellie?

*Sorry, forgot you were from muddy antrim. Shoe changed to wellington boots.

You were slapped for making typically stupid american observations about the irish mentality, by an englishman (Cyber) and an Irishman (Myself), respectively. No offense.

thats what i was taught from birth prac. once i was buying my grandmother some tea bags, and apparently it was from a british comp. and it didnt go over very well.

also, i had made a brit. friend at an ROTC camp i went to, and when he called and asked for me, my dad was not happy at all.

so, thats my "stupid american observation" from an irish family living in the states

So do I, it's fantastically naive. Why don't you educate yourself, dear?

www.irelandsOWN.net
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics_of_the_Republic_of_Ireland
http://www.politics.ie/

In shorthand, it's not about them being english, it's about them being a part of a protestant heirarchy not native to ireland (rather, imported and landed from the UK when Ireland was a trading colony) yet controlling a small (and frankly, not appealing) part of it.
