Excellent show.

Really, fucking excellent, it brings the sitcom back from the shitholes of despair that are Everybody Loves Raymond, Oh, Dear, and King of Queens.

I fucking hate shows about married people and families... I already lived through it, don't wish to repeat the experience.  Sheldon is excellent, really a great show.

Seinfeld was a masterpiece, TBBT will be regarded as such... good writing, excellent characters, good character development, bringing the sitcom back and let's face it we as americans need a good sitcom in our primetime line-up.

Serial crime dramas can suck the hairiest part of my left testicle.

everyone should hate raymond, he is just a big pussy, he's the embodiment of middle class mediocrity and the reason for the current economic crisis.

men like ray romano represent the downfall of our once great nation.   do you know how many natives were slaughtered so that we could rape their land.  and now everyone just sits around farting and talking about how microsoft sucks and getting ripped off by overdraft fees and college textbooks.

when the revolution comes, ray romano will be first against the wall.

agree partially. it tends to suffer from, A: all looking the same, and B: being really weird.

you have successfully described the contents of my trashcan.

I'm sorry... not edgy enough.  Please try again.

I have an endangered species of cardinalfish, but generally speaking nothing too edgy about fish tanks.  And no, nobody says "reefer" anymore as a reference to cannabis except in an exclusively ironic context.

And yes, everyone smokes weed.  So that's not edgy either.

here's a kicker, anyone know what a machine elf is? sometimes referred to as a self-transforming elf machine?

Has anyone tried not wearing sunglasses before noon?

It sounds stupid and hokey, but it helps me shift back to the morning shift. I want to go to sleep about 9 pm, so it kills any night life I might want to have, but I can get up in the morning.

Weird Tingly Feeling.  who even wears sunglasses anymore?

I've been dealing with this since I was a child.  It has nothing to do with aging.

Likewise, if you read the original post, I've had this issue since I can remember... and before I can remember, I was the only kid who slept in on Christmas morning.

My favourite game is and will always be -

Space Quest 4: Roger Wilco and the Time Rippers

I remember playing this game for hours on end, wasting time I didn't even know I had, back when I had more of a life then I have now. It's sad that the last released episode was 6. There was supposed to be a SQ 7 but Scott Murphy had quit the project right before SQ5 came out and Mark Crowe wasn't about to do what Sierra On-line wanted to do with the game. 1st person shooter...for space quest? Eww.

Plug alert!

I would reccomend this game to anyone who likes hot chicks, has mucho time and patience, and is good at solving puzzles without having their head explode.

I used to love this game.  I was 12 of course, but who cares! Shit rocks!

I think one of the easiest and best ways to do so:

Build your own furniture.  Especially if you're a college student, or just young person with a limited income who is starting out, it's easy to just load up your VISA/MC of choice and bed, bath, beyond, target, and wherever else you choose, but really for about 20 bucks you can build your dinner table, coffee table, entertainment center, end tables, and well just about anything that doesn't involve your direct physical comfort like a chair, bed, etc. or has moving parts like drawers.

Cinder blocks, 2x4's, and plywood.  Wood glue, sanding block, and spray paint in colors of your choosing, or polyurethane/woodstain if you're an au naturale kinda guy/gal.

Do your measurements, go to Lowe's, they'll cut everything for you to your exact specifications, for absolutely free, aside from the cost of the materials of course.

Cinder blocks will run you about $1-1.50 at pricier retail outlets such as home depot/lowes.  2x4's i think are about the same... the expensive part is the plywood ($15-20), you just need to have it cut efficiently so you don't "waste" extra wood, for example they come in large like 6x8 sheets or something or 8x10, so you need to have it cut for several different tables at once... don't waste the excess.

Basically, sand and paint all wood pieces to colors of your liking, use cinderblocks for legs, and you glue the plywood to 2x4's cut to the length of the table top you want, the number of 2x4's will be based on the width of the tabletop... so for say an 18" wide table top you'd need probably 3 for a very sturdy table.

Not to mention it's attractive if you have good color-coordination.  Versatile as well.  Parts are interchangeable and reusable.

And let's face it, nobody makes anything off selling used furniture unless it's an antique...  So save yourself a lot of money and build your own tables, desks etc!

Short review: I want to like it, but it just feels off to me, boring yes, and something else is weird about it, I can't really say what. It just is... odd.

agreed, I have astigmatism in one eye, sometimes it takes me a second to adjust focus, I feel like for those without perfect vision, it is somewhat difficult to take in the 3d transitions...

Story is recycled garbage, whatever, irrelevant, this does not separate it from any other blockbuster hit of this genre of the past ten years, or perhaps longer.

My qualm is with the actual 3d/cg part, I for one, could not truly ever get immersed into the imagery of the film... i found especially when the close-ups happened it was impossible not to be "taken out" of the experience... my visual senses simply could not process the rapid changes in the field of depth which I think were the inherent flaw of the movie.

there were certain scenes, such as the slow moving scenes in the first 15 minutes that take place in the lab and such, where I felt you could truly be immersed in the movie, but many of the close ups on the avatar planet, whatever it was called, like of the floating tree spirit things, couldn't be processed.

maybe I have a flaw, but I suspect I'm not the only one who felt this way, and maybe there is just a certain percentage of people who cannot process the imagery as it was intended, like those who see rainbow striping in DLP televisions.

who knows.  I am often to prone to see "the wizard behind the curtain" and though this movie really made probably the best attempt I've ever seen to truly take computer generated graphics to a level of realism never known before, i still find the primitive special effects of the original star wars trilogy to be far more captivating than anything I've seen to date.

not to mention whoever they got to play the main character, joe marine jimmyfuck, was an absolute and total douche and unrelatable to anyone, even other extreme and total douches.

characters lacked any semblance of depth, and maybe that's why i couldn't buy it.  the mind is a complicated instrument.

What's the fucking deal.

Shit is absolute garbage, unenjoyable by ANYONE.

ONCE, AND ONLY ONCE, I was EXTREMELY high, and found it fascinating... I have never since been able to recreate the appeal of the experience.

Garbage, trash, junk.

Get it out of my TV box forever.

Anarchy / Anyone have a sleep disorder? (a REAL sleep disorder)

I believe I have a sleep disorder, 26 y/o male, still can't hold down a job for more than 6-12 months without inevitably sleeping in despite having up to five alarm clocks.

I've been this way since I was a young child (7 or 8 years old), never truly able to reliably wake up before 11 am...  I have used everything, including schedule II medications, to combat this...

The only thing I haven't done is get a sleep study, but I'm skeptical about it, especially considering I seem to sleep for somewhat normal hours, and have no trouble falling asleep (at around 3-4 am that is) and no insomnia (except for a brief period when I quit smoking).  So I think my actual sleep, is fine, just that my circadian clock, is off.  And I think in a sleep study situation, I would probably never truly sleep as I normally do, for example, when I have a "guest" stay in the same room with me, I don't really sleep normally, it takes me a lot longer than normal to fall asleep and I sleep very lightly, so I awake usually whenever the sun comes up or I hear a noise or the other person wakes up, rolls over, etc... far before my alarm does.

I do believe that I have a very strong power of will, but it seems that I often wake up and fall back asleep if I get up before 10 am, without even knowing it... As if I'm sleepwalking.  Sometimes I will "wake up" turn off all of the alarms, and fall back to sleep with absolutely no recollection of the event (at least I assume that's what happened as they are all turned off when I wake up) or I will sleep straight through them, and awake several hours later to at least three of them blaring. (I use a combination of buzzers, beeps, radios, etc)

I'm often in a daze for an hour or two after I wake up so I have to set my alarm for several hours before I have to do something, maybe hit the snooze button once (more than once and it's doubtful I'll make it anywhere before noon).

It's also interesting to note that no matter how sleep deprived I am, or how exhausted I am from my daily activities, I cannot sleep before 3-4am... EVER.  If I do happen to fall asleep at say 9 or 10pm, I will awake about 1 to 1.5 hours later unable to sleep until about 6-7 am.

I've done some research and there is some mentioning something called Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder/Syndrome, does anyone know anything about this, is it legitimate?  If anyone has had any kind of similar experience, please relate it, as well as what you did/are doing to overcome it, I was recently fired from an important job and it has sent me into despair about the situation.

I thought I had actually overcome it a few months ago, but eventually, it seems that my biology, or neurology, or psychology, wins.

wow.

"reefing" is the hobby of "reef-keeping", or maintaining "reef aquaria"

if you still don't get it... it's a fucking saltwater fish tank. with corals. you know the ones that make up what some refer to as coral reefs, that special 1% of the ocean that houses 80% of the biological diversity within it.

at least that one dude said something about surfing, and coral reefs, he was close... but damn... i think most thought it was a reference to smoking pot... and this is not 1957, nobody calls pot, "reefer," anymore and i don't think pot-smoking was ever referred to as "reefing" anyways.

ouch.

i figured somebody would have at least googled it.

Well, first of all, too much respect is paid to dead bodies...

Honestly the fact that we pay so much respect to someone's decomposing body is a bit disturbing in the first place, as it not only highlights how idiotic traditions have impeded sociocultural progress, but is just a bit morose and dark and in bad taste in my opinion.

Grief does not need to be highlighted and made into a festival...  Mourn the dead quickly, appreciate what they did while they were living and their free-standing contributions to society and move on.  This may seem "ultra-progressive" to some, but it's sad if it does, as this sort of progress should have been made decades-centuries ago.

We are well beyond the mass social importance placed upon arcane and expensive spiritual rituals which impede the progress and harmony of mankind and his contribution to earth.

YOYO.

I have no idea what this forum is about, seems random.

I guess I need to know "what goes" on this forum?  Anything?   Hopefully anything, hopefully not one of those boards that is censored/content restricted, because I'm an asshole and prefer to not have to censor myself on an internet forum.

That cool?

Anyone here into reefing?
