I detest talking on the phone. I'd rather do all communication either via email or in person.

I'm the same. When I get a phone call, I check first to see who it is. If it's someone I know personally, I answer "Whatchu want?" If it's a random number, I'll pick up, say 'Hello?' (once), and depending if what they say interests me or not (which is often the case), I politely hang up.

Sticky Stuff (no pun intended) / Re: 2010 Book Thread
« on: March 17, 2010, 08:32:42 PM »
I have to read a lot for my classes (5 english classes) so I don't get a lot of time to read other things very much, but I did just finish As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner and I absolutely loved it. It was pretty confusing at first but it gets really good once you get into it and start understanding all the characters.

Anyway, at the moment I'm reading The Courage To Write: How Writers Transcend Fear by Ralph Keyes in between my school work. And my friend just gave me two books he insists I must read: Storm Front by Jim Butcher and Dhampir by Barb & J.C. Hendee. So I guess I shall read those when I get the chance. Has anyone read them before? Any feedback? I think there are vampires involved and to be honest I have never been a big fan of vampires... So I am just a little reluctant. The only vampire tale I've ever liked is H.P. Lovecraft's "Shunned House" just because it's H.P. Lovecraft  :-D

To be honest, neither. But if I really had to choose, I'd say rye. This is something I don't get though, isn't pumpernickel made of rye? o.0

Writer's Block / Six-Word Memoir Fun!
« on: March 15, 2010, 03:46:21 PM »
I'm new here but I thought I'd try to start an interesting and hopefully fun thread. We did this in my Fiction Writing class and it was actually amazing to hear the stuff people came up with. The idea is to write a story / memoir in six words; no more, no less. I think it came from a challenge given to Ernest Hemingway to which he wrote the following story:

For Sale: baby shoes, never worn.

Anyway, I came up with these:

I thought we were perfectly happy.

Addicted to video games: very lonely.

I never really liked you anyway.

Still dreaming of meeting Prince Charming.

Fell in love on the internet.

I never really got into reading manga. Don't ask why, I just never did. But I do watch anime and right now I'm following Bleach (getting sick of the stupid zanpakutou fillers though), Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, and Naruto Shippuden (they should really call this series Uchiha Sasuke just because he's all anyone ever cares about even though he's a total asshole  :-P).

Forum noob here.

You can call me Demon as most people do (or if you have some kind of preference against calling someone Demon, you can just call me D); a 22 year old aspiring writer and recovering WoW addict whose obsessions range from literature to rpgs to dragons to mma to just about anything cute or "kawaii" -- I am asian after all .

I just happened to stumble upon this forum after encountering the term "weeaboo" on some random Vocaloid video on YouTube. I had no clue what it meant but it seemed to offend a bunch of people so I just had to do a search and the long list of links led me to a post on this forum. I started looking around and you guys seem like a bunch of pretty interesting people so I thought I'd join and see what happens. I haven't been in a forum since around five years ago, but I figured it'll be a nice change and would be something to keep me entertained between hours and hours of staring at nothing but blank pages.

Nice to meet you all! ^.^

♥ Demon
