Entertainment / Books that you should own

I personally think books are underrated as a form of story telling in this day and age. I also would like to know where to dump a couple hundred dollars besides electronics.

So, on that note, what are some good books that are just good books? They don't need to be philosophical, relevant, or even coherent.

These are amongst my favorites, off the top of my head that is.

Party Monster - James St. James (This book was originally released as 'Disco Bloodbath' but was discontinued)
I Am Drakulya - C. Dean Andersson
The Chronicles of Narnia - C.S. Lewis
Lord of the Rings - If you don't know his name, you should not be reading books  :x
His Dark Materials - Philip Pullman
The Elder Scrolls - from the game series... lots of interesting 'books' and lore in those games
The Bear and the Dragon - Tom Clancy
1984 - George Orwell
The Wizard Knight - Gene Wolfe
The Sword of Truth series - Terry Goodkind (I'm only on the 6th book... so don't give me spoilers)
And anything by the coolest 'atheist' ever, George Carlin. I'm not sure to call him atheist though... I think he still worships the sun and Joe Pesci.

P.S. I do know that another topic does discuss books, but after reading it, I figured that it was more about philosophical books in particular. So I started this one on books that are just a good read in general. :-)

Hello mah fellow geeks. Umm... I'm Merc. I've had variations of the name for the last couple of years, but Merc is the key point to any online name I pick up. I was browsing around, found some funny shit here, checked out the forum, and wadda ya know. Now I'm joining up.

Well, yeah. Hello is all I have to say right now I guess. Oh, and Hi :)
