Hello
« on: March 12, 2008, 02:45:47 AM »

I prefer to stay in my corner and I am not the most post-happy person in the world, but I've been told that it's rude not to introduce yourself.
Hi. I'm here.
Is there anything you want to know?

Interests:
Everything. Science, history, language, literature, arts... Currently technology is high on the list, I am perverbial pond-scum on the technology food chain , but I am attempting to increase my knowledge in that area, so please be patient with me if I act like a moron when you use a sentence that involves one or more technology related acronyms and/or jargon.

Hobbies:
That is a very long list. Most prevelant would probably be, literature (writing it and reading it), animals (4th generation horse trainer, 3rd generation dog and cat trainer... yes cats can be trained, 2nd generation, if-you-name-it-give-me-a-day-to-read-up-on-it-and-that'll-be-cool trainer)(my mom rocks), and herbal medicine or homedics (most of it is BS but some of it actually works, and besides, I now know how to kill someone using three common house plants).

P.S. I would like to go ahead and apologize about the delay in my response time between 8am and 4pm United States Eastern Standard Time. I sleep during this time as I work from 11pm to 7am. However I check all my e-mails and postings before I go to sleep as it is similiar to voicemail.

Welcome new person.

1. What do you wunder about most of the time?

2.  How could you train my pet snail to keep up with me when we go for a walk?  He keeps lagging behind.

Well... I guess techincally speaking it would cure your back pain, but it's not the recommended treatment, since side-effects include, nausea, vomitting, seizures, coma, and in 'some' cases... death. (I always wonder what they mean in those commercials when they say 'some'.)
Really, I need to know what kind of pain, and why you're in it. If it's a dull ache accompanied by stiffness from overworking you don't need medicine. Try using your abdominal muscles to support your back on it's way back into the standing position. This put less strain on your back muscles as they contract, pulling you back upright.
Stretch out the back muscles, stand with your feet 12-18" apart and reached down. Let your head, shoulders, and arms relax, allowing gravity to do the stretching for you. Stay there for as long as you can tolerate it, then return to a standing position by contracting your abs and pushing up from underneath your back. Make sure your weight stays in the balls of your feet, and don't lean back into your hips, you'll lose your balance and take a head dive into the carpet.
!!Disclaimer: I cannot be held responsible if you hurt yourself doing this because you don't know how to bend over!! :-o
For more ideas on stretching out a 'tight' back consult a yoga instructor, my favourite place is online www.yoga.com
Also, heat the sore muscles directly before they are used, this will relax them and make you more limber. Ice the muscles directly after heavy usage to prevent inflammation which is what causes stiffness in joints and muscles.

IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING SHARP STABBING BACK PAIN CONSULT A PROFESSIONAL IMMEDIATELY! Sharp stabbing pain, especially if you experience it for no reason (i.e. you stand from a sitting position and suddenly feel like there is a knife twisting in your lower back) is a shared symptom of some very serious spinal injuries and should not be taken lightly. If you're like me and don't like spending $80.00 just have some twelve-year-old in a white coat tell you to put ice on it, visit a free online physician forum or chat sight (personal favourite is www.webmd.com), be ubber specific about the how, where, when, and why, the more information you can give a physician, the more they can help you.

If you are experiencing everything, you are a hypochondriac and it's all in your head.  :-D

The real question is, what do I not wunder about?

i'm actually on medication now for my back, but getting frustrated because it's not doing a whole lot. truth be told, it's breast-related. unfortunately, this summer is not going to be a fun one with me (yep- surgery.)  :x

i'll try what you suggest, though, and i appreciate the advice. +1!

Are you trying to get divorced?

(Yes, I know dude is a common colloquialism for person, but just to put it out there, because I realize I haven't yet, I'm a chick.)

Dude is gender neutral when coming out of my keyboard.  It also is an exclamation having nothing to do with an individual.  Context will be your friend.

As for getting divorced, not likely.  It was a joke.  I realize Henny Youngman is probably beyond your generation, but you can google him and then get my reference.

I wasn't being serious either, and I know you were joking. And yes, I know dude is a common colloquialism for person, it just reminded that I hadn't mentioned my gender yet. I didn't mean to put you off. I'll avoid return sarcasm.
Sorry.
