Who honestly still falls for this stuff? I mean come on, as if winning a lottery in another country wasn't suspicious enough, would you really call these people and give them your personal information??

True story:

I got an email like that about a year ago right before I moved to Pennsylvania. I said "what the heck" and gave them a call. I gave them some false information but my real name and a PO box that they could send the payment to. It seemed pretty suspecious but I had nothing to really lose other than my time.

So I waited several weeks and still nothing from them. Finally after the better part of a month I received a check from them for a little under $1000 (USD). I was surprised that when I went to the bank I was able to deposit it and it never bounced. I checked my bank statement in the months after the transaction and I was never charged for the check bouncing.

Moral of the story: These things aren't always scams.

Eh, I'll err on the side of caution when someone is offering me what amounts to 1.4 million.

My offer was 1.2 million. I wasn't expecting to see any money out of it at all. Though an extra $1000 was pretty cool.
