50 Books in 2009
« on: January 01, 2009, 11:52:58 AM »

50?  Ok, I probably won't make that.  My actual goal is 30 for this year.  So make your goal and list your books here as you finish them.

By the way, every new post I make, I go to the last one and click "modify".  Then I copy it all and paste it into my new post and make the updates.  That way I don't have to redo the codes every time.

So right now I'm still working on the following:  French Women Don't Get Fat by Mireille Guiliano  and Whatever it Takes: How Professional Learning Communities Respond When Kids Don't Learn by DuFour, DuFour, Eaker, Karbanek and YAWWWN.

I don't really like either book.  So this year can only get better!!    :-D

Starting on Furies of Calderon by Jim Butcher.  If it turns out to be as good as his Dresden Files books are, you might never see me again.

I gave up on the French woman book.  I get it...everything in moderation.    So I switched to Blaze by Richard Bachman.

I've just started reading 'Little Brother' by Cory Doctorow.

So far it's awesome!  Has anyone else read it?

I read it last month, Or maybe in November. It was pretty good bordering on excellent in places. He took a few liberties with the technology, and I didn't like that there was zero exploration (at least expressed in the book) about the effects of the actual attack.

Oh, and I finished 1634: The Galileo Affair (although I started it last year), and 1635: The Cannon Law so far.

I really can't make a goal because I'm such a chain reader anyway, but I'll go ahead and keep a list Detta-style.

1. Scarpetta by Patricia Cornwell
2. The Android's Dream by John Scalzi (reread)
3. Insomnia by Stephen King (reread)
4. The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris (reread)

Currently reading:
  • War and Peace by Dostoyevsky by Stephenie Meyer
  • Beyond Einstein by Michio Kaku
  • Chaos: Making a new Science by James Gleick
  • The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli
  • The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins
  • The Golden Ratio by Mario Livio
  • Quantum Reality by Nick Herbert
  • Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury (rereading)
  • The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich by William Shirer

Updated List:

I decided to put graphic novels/manga in their own list

The previous book took some time to digest, plus having hardwood floors installed threw some things off.  Added the latest book and graphic novel.
