Title: Ice Boat?
Post by: Agent_Tachyon on July 13, 2007, 10:41:53 PM
Does anybody know anything about a boat that was intentionally frozen in ice and sailed down with the seasonal current, but ran into problems and the crew met up with some Russians (I think they were Russians) who were trying to find a new land route to the Pole? I seem to remember reading about this but can't find the book and only vaguely recall it.

This sounds kind of like the 1993 movie Cool Runnings starring John Candy.

Your descript is a little vague there ...

Is this a movie or an actual event ?

It's from a book called 'Extreme Science' (or Scientists possibly) I had years ago that had stuff in it about the whipple shielding on the space shuttle, the Dante volcano robots, the Moore jetpack, that first atomic pile in the abandoned squash court, the net-gun, Gerald Bull's space-gun, Chico Mendes, and a few others (I'm just listing the ones I remember).

This may be (http://www.arcticwebsite.com/) a good lead.
