Website...forwarding?

How does one go about setting up multiple domain names that all reroute to a single site?

On the index.html of the site that you want routed to another site, with PHP, output a header that reroutes them.
Or, using java, just use window.location = "wherever you want them directed to".   If they have javascript disabled they won't get re-directed, though.
Also, some hosts handle this for you.  hostforweb does it for you.

Tight, thanks. I suppose I\'d actually have to host the domains that get rerouted then, or are there any registrars that will let me just reroute the traffic without needing to pay for hosting for sites that just reroute somewhere else...

Probably not.  Domain registration and hosting are two different animals.

Most webhosts will host multiple domains from one hosting space.

I think GoDaddy.com offers free domain forwarding without having to purchase hosting.  I think they're now the biggest registrar in the world, and I know that they don't make a habit of dicking people around.

That's good. I'm thinking of putting up a content-heavy site with my writing on it hosted by www.laughingsquid.com for various reasons.

Strong word of advice: Be sure to host with a company that has a good track record, and appears to be trust-worthy with your data. I have never heard of Giant Squid hosting. If you know it's reputable, and has had a good track record with their servers, then by all means give them a shot. If not, you may want to do some more reseach into the company, or go with someone else.

This is somsone speaking from experience. I got burned once. The place got their servers unplugged by the data center because they didn't pay the bill.

Wow, laughingsquid is a wonderful underground bay area art organization.  Didn't you say you were Canadian?  No offense intended, but how did you find out about laughingsquid?

*snickers* Shouldn't there be a disclaimer in there somewhere Verspertine? (says I who no longer works for a registrar :-) )

In any case, someone made the point that pointing DNS entries (usually A or CNAME records) at a single host/IP will work, and might be what you want.  So that example.com would go to 192.168.1.1 and example.org would also go to 192.168.1.1. However depending on how the web server was set up, it might re-write the URL so that even if you got there by going to example.net, it would show up as example.com which may or may not be a desired outcome.

That one's easy, I'm an SRL fan (the videos anyway...I plan on making a pilgrimage to the Bay in the next couple of years) and found it through them.

It looks extraordinarily cool, if I were you I'd totally go for the next show. I'd like to go to the Bay area, all that counterculture pop-art stuff is a huge interest of mine, but it looks very expensive.
