I'm pretty sure putting those up where they did was illegal. I know in San Antonio we have folks smearing every-other-lightpole with advertisements for movers, massages, and baby sitting(like I would EVER hire a baby sitter from something I saw on a lightpole).

I'm not sure I'd take them to the cleaners over it, but what they did WAS illegal(I'm pretty sure, but Boston might be different). I wouldn't slam them for it, though. I'm betting it wasn't that some one called in saying folks put something wierd looking on the overpass. I bet they called in and told the city that some one put something that looks like a bomb on the overpass.

I think what really needs to happen now is that the media drops it, they pay their fine, and we all laugh at how retarded they and the citizens of Boston are.

From what I've been reading, the Boston authorities are looking into charging them with "placement of a hoax device", or something along those lines. This particular charge is a felony. While I do think their marketing campaign may have been ill conceived, I certainly don't think it's criminal. For that matter, if the signs were placed somewhere where it's legal to place signs, I don't even think they should have to pay fines of any kind.

That's just plain untrue, since the sign is exactly what it appears to be, an electric advertisement. If it appreared to be an electric sign, yet was in reality a cheese sandwich or something, then THAT would be a hoax device.

I agree, though, with the general consensus of the board. This is ludicrous...the only way this could get any stupider would be if someone went around hanging Hulk Hogan posters and the police took it as threats of terrorism. Weird Tingly Feeling?
