Did someone do this already? I'm doing it here. I haven't been here in like, two years. Stuff's happened in that time. What's that stuff?
Me? My kids are 4 and almost 3. I'm teaching at a private school that's having some financial troubles. I moved into an awesome new house.
Ok so I guess not that much stuff has happened. I haven't slept in three years. So that's nice.

I've been at a new job.
This forum is pretty much the only one that's blocked at work for some reason, hence why I stopped showing up for awhile.
Bought a condo
Still driving the same POS car.

Got a new job 2 years ago, working from home. I'm still the only female dev at my company.
We've started house shopping, which is both exciting and terrifying.
-
What's new since I last posted here regularly? Well, let's see...
Executive MBA
Making fat stacks of cash now
Trips to Europe (1X) and San Francisco (2X)
BizB's Cute Kid is now 16... driving and working 2 jobs
I have BBCK full time, now too.
Rode my bike 4,500 miles last year
On pace to beat that this year - barring injury
Started a new company designing bike jerseys/gear (not related to #2 on the list)
New granddaughter as of October 2013 (now there's 3 of them)

I'm crying right now because it's true.
Haha, nah...my kids are waaaaayyyyy cuter. I love them and wouldn't trade them for anything. Not even sleep. It'll come eventually. I don't know any middle schoolers who don't sleep through the night. Problem is, by that time, he'll be a middle schooler!!

Well, let's see.
The wife and I are still living in the same house we bought in 2003.
I'm still writing and running tabletop RPG games.
Professionally things are (finally) looking up. I got a job at big managed IT services company local to here and 5 months later they made me a manager. I manage half the IT Services operation in the main corporate location, and another guy manages the other half. We also split management of the night shifts, so that can be a little cumbersome at time.
The company is a good one, about as close to a true meritocracy as I've worked at I think ever. They actually listen to me here, and I actually have enough authority to do what needs to be done, which is a refreshing change from.... well, pretty much everything else I've done. It's very validating to get accolades here for things that used to just get me blank stares at other companies.

Same house we've lived in since 2000
Six and a half years at same job (now working crazy hours for an implementation)
Kid is 7, is autistic, is mainstreamed in a first grade class at a parent participation, experiential learning charter school. I teach PE there twice a week.
Bear died about two years ago at age 14. Scooter is now 8
Car died two years ago so i upgraded to a '97 Acura Integra with 145K miles on it. Now I have 180K and just dropped 600 to fix it.
I still try to make it to see live music at least 30-40 times a year. The cool thing is I take my kid to a few all ages ones.

Still have same house + job (count photons and herd plankton, but now with MOAR LASERS).
Still have same wife (she's cute).
Have had new dog for while now (also cute).
Same bike though (made in USA mofos, 20 years and still going strong).
Will soon have no kids (omg).
I think I have one more guitar than I did before.
-
Oh yes. I forgot about that. I too have one more guitar than I did before. A Yamaha acoustic that belonged to my wife's grandfather.

How does one "herd plankton"?

I moved on from high school in Tennessee to college in Washington, DC, studying mechanical engineering. I miss my cat.

I miss my cat.
You can play with ours. We'll stand by and watch.

You did? Awesome, good for you! I'm never on FB anymore, so I'm not always up on current events. How is school going?

Not without a royalties contract. I know one of you opportunistic fucks will get out a camera.

Nets. And acetone.

And border guppies?

And border guppies?
Sadly they have mostly been rendered extinct. Now we use drones.

I am still poor and bouncing between places. Currently a fieldworker. I am working on the next great American novel.....
Seen your kids on google plus min, adorable.

Haha, you're the sweetest, Biz. But yeah, you'll owe me royalties.

School's wonderful! It was a really rough year, especially the second semester (of the eighteen freshman who were in both the honors program and the engineering school, two committed suicide), but people can be great and let you lean on them, so everything is going okay. Plus I came home and get to play with my cat now.
Now we use drones.
Of course you do.

Whoooaaaaa.... When did this all happen?
-
Guess I should quick give everyone the low down just like everyone else was doing.
I've actually since moved on from the restaurant industry as I had no work/life balance. It was just all work, and very little free time for myself. I now work for the largest payroll and HCM company in the world. Is it my life's calling? No. But it's a hell of a lot better than what I was doing before. I actually have weekends off. What is that?
I'm still living in eastern Pennsylvania, about 45 minutes north of Philadelphia. I've been keeping myself busy with car work on the side... I don't know where I get my mechanical abilities from, but I'll take it. I've been in a relationship now for about a half a year and I can honestly say I can see this going far.
Both of my brothers are now married and just recently had kids so of course the rest of the family is looking at me thinking, "When are you going to settle down?". Of course, they're a little older than me, so I have some time.

Congrats. Sometimes it takes us a while to learn that it's important to have a life and not just a job/career.
So what are you doing for this company?

Very true. In my case, it was about 13 years or so. Hey, you live you learn, right?
I am a finance and compliance consultant (AKA: read as "sales") where I partner with large firms with 1000 or more employees and figure out where they have issues in terms of remaining compliant with regards to tax legislation, as well as where they are just down right wasting money.
It's good for right now, but like I said, I know for sure that's not my life's calling.
-
You beat me in escaping the restaurant industry. Congratulations!

Do you need payroll?

I still eat at restaurants.

Hate restaurants.

Do you need payroll?
I escaped in 2007, after having worked in the industry a total of 20 years. I now work for one of the largest EDA companies on the planet now and we have payroll already taken care of.
