Title: New Toy!
Post by: Probie on January 29, 2010, 08:06:27 AM

I've been doing piano lessons for about two months now and have recently found myself single, and lacking a piano to practise on. So on a tight budget I got myself one of these:

I can't wait to go home and practise!!!!

I can't ready that.  It's in British.

I have one of those.  Perhaps a different model.  But I've yet to take any lessons.  But then again we're ORCHIDs and the D also represents time too and not just money.  Someday I'll learn, piano, guitar, bass, and drums and aspire to the greatness of Mad Bitchez Disgruntled Hos.

I don't either.  Why on earth would anyone want to run XP on something like that?

I could see if it came with some flavor of Linux or BSD or something.  It'd actually be a pretty slick little self-contained net-top then.  But XP?  Ugh.

Every time I see this thread in the undread topics list, I wish it was in the NSFW forum.

Heh.  Here, Biz.  Let me strategically edit Probie's initial post to try and fit it into that for you:

I've been doing ... a ... tight ... one.

I can't wait to go home and practise!!!!

It has no monitor; which pretty much negates the whole "mobility" theme something like this is supposed to enhance. The only niche I could think of was a network tech who can commandeer any monitor wherever he/she is working...  which is certainly more hassle than a laptop/notebook.

There's a market niche for "net top" computers.  It's not intended for high mobility as much as just compactness and cost.  It actually hits a very similar niche to the Mac Mini.  They have their purposes, but with hardware that light, putting Windows on them is just sadistic.
