About to start "An Invitation to a Beheading" by Nabokov.
The guy who wrote "Lolita" ?

Nabokov is one of my favourite writers, he's good.

Currently I'm reading Model Tax Convention on Income and Capital by OECD Committee on Fiscal Affairs, which is pretty sad, since it's what I'll have to read during whole wekends

Anarchy / Re: 50 Games in 2009

Being a senior year student and having to work part-time leaves me almost no time to play games, but I find couple of hours every other day to play some QuakeLive. I stopped playing World of Warcraft about 2 months ago, but still it was the main game of 2009 for me.
After I complete this semester I'll have more time to spend on gaming, so my prediction for 2010 is Aion

Political Opinions / Re: Getting to Know Your Political Drones!

oh eh, probably, it's much more easier to persuade people that Obama shouldn't be a president because he's black/muslim/terrorist/reincarnation of hitler/whatever else than explain those idiots what is wrong about his policy no matter how fecking stupid that actually is.
Sometimes I'm really suprised by how easily some people develop an opinion concerning certain things wihout any evident reasons to have such an opinion. My mom loves Obama, but we don't even live in America, srsly, she calls me and tells me that she watched news report and saw him saying something and how cool he is.

/Enjoyed the thread

IB is not the kind of movie that should be taken directly/seriously. It is very well executed and it is different from all of the movies I've ever seen about the World War II. It's not as superficial and pure entertaining as it seems and it's not pretentious at all as one might perceive.
Besides, it has amazing women characters.
But yeah, movie contains a bit more oddity than needed and Brad Pitt, those are two disadvantages from my point of view(: but not to offend his fans, he was good in IB, I just don't like him.

@pbsaurus, No country for Old Men movie is one of few movies, which are better/not worse than the books they are actually based of.

P.S. Thanks to everyone for the welcome.

personally I value consistency and development of characters, everything should be justified, especially use of violence. Also pacing. Wrong pacing can ruin good story.
Nothing can beat qualitative satire. and style

from the latest movies I'd name District 9 and Inglourious Basterds (which is my second favourite movie by Tino after Resevoir Dogs).
I could try to name movies I think are good in this post, but I'm afraid it will be too much. from more recent oldboy, there will be blood, no country for old men, city of god, straight story, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, pan's labyrinth.

Hello, I'm Xaver. I'm currently studying and working at a university and neither my major nor my job are related to geekery(: This place appeals to me and I'll try to contribute.
I'm big fan of good movies and will be glad to discuss films with other members, I also enjoy gaming from time to time and knitting (my little dirty secret).
My biggest hobby though is the one that brought me to this forum

nice to meet you all
