I scored 8, but maybe it's all false modesty because I'm pretty sure I'm more awesome than that.

I'm pretty sure you are too.

Last night I dreamt of that which I did not want to but knew I would. Demosthenes knows of which I speak.

But somehow that segued to a co-ed combination hockey/volleyball game in Germany, where I dealt with racism and Margaret Thatcher defending Hitler. I don't even know.

Weird dream last night...

Was using some sort of software that had various bugs in it. But if you found a bug in the software the developers would summon a ghost to hunt down and kill you instead of patching the software.

So I spent the majority of the dream on the run to avoid these techno-ghosts.

The number of times I've wanted to kill the person who reported a bug...

"Pickup League" - I imagine a group of people who drive their trucks around fields playing automotive versions of various sports... most of the time it'll end up as a variation on the demolition derby... only with goals.

I assume that's what Quidditch would look like if it were played authentically.

Aforementioned former coworker and potential FWB+ showed up again last night, this time with his IRL girlfriend. We were all playing hockey (a thing they actually do in pickup leagues). He was goalie (as he is IRL) and was putting on some giant red partially-metallic contraption, like a suit of armor -- but was borrowing my skates. I was asking his girlfriend to teach me how to hockey stop, as I've never learned how to do that.

STOP IT, BRAIN.

It's semi-magical, I suppose, but I want to be pyrokinetic -- just to be able to start the charcoal grill without feeling like an utter failure, and light candles on demand.

Something more mundane: I would also love to be able to fall asleep without effort, as I wished.

More dreams about school. It was the last day of classes and I seemed to be a senior. I went to clear out my locker and discovered that it'd moved over one slot and someone had left a note saying they'd sold all my clothes and gotten $5,000 for them. I was hugging random people goodbye, and most were walking around with blueprint-type paper that had totally random shit written on it in chalk. A guy I went to elementary (but not high) school with had a piece that said something about sushi in a heading at the top, but was otherwise empty.

Definitely made out with Joel McHale again last night in my dreams.

Anarchy / Re: Which early Christian Heresy are you?
« on: July 20, 2014, 10:12:04 AM »
You are Arianism!

The heresy of Arianism is so named after Arius, a priest who taught in Alexandria, Egypt. Arius taught that Jesus Christ was a created being and therefore subordinate to God the Father, rather than a divine person having the same substance as the Father. Arius therefore denied Christ's pre-existence, holding that he came into being at some later time and could not be described as the "son of God" in the fullest sense. Arian beliefs were opposed by the fourth-century bishop Athanasius of Alexandria, who insisted that the Father and Son were co-eternal and of the same substance (Greek "homoousios") with each other. Arius's teachings were condemned explicitly by the Council of Niceae in 325, although remnants of Arianism continued to be taught in parts of Europe until the seventh century. A more moderate position, known as "semi-Arianism," taught that the Father and Son were of a similar but not identical substance to one another ("homoiousios"), which was likewise condemned as heretical.

Now i need to get a pomegranate.

"Actually, I don't want you to touch me."

Oh boy, I gotta remember to use this one.

Glad you find it useful, because it punched me in the gut.

I was back in high school, and it was definitely the high school I attended. The student office admin was the same no-nonsense grey-haired lady who knew which kids were okay to let loose and which needed a leash. I was the former. Dream-me showed up in the office on the first day of school to get my class schedule, and she saw me in line and said, exasperated, "Catrina, you know where to go." She nodded her head over to a second file cabinet and I went over and found my file. There were about 15 copies of my schedule, along with stacks of expired coupons and a letter I never got to read. I took my schedule, threw out the coupons and went to find my classes.

Time is a tricky thing in dreams: so maybe an hour later, I went outside to get something from my car, only to find it'd been towed because I'd parked in a no-parking area (which was only two carlengths long, in the middle of a block). I returned to the school angry and trying to find my car's location on some less-than-helpful app the city provided for such occasions. I'm stomping around the school, because I realize I have no idea where my locker is or what the combination might be, and I run into a former coworker [with whom IRL there'd been some unrequited sexual tension and mutual affection]. He's struggling with his sport coat. I reach up to his collar to help straighten it. He recoils and says, "Actually, I don't want you to touch me."

I woke up immediately. Fucking Thursdays.

I'd think that Weird Al is the best musician in the world, given his prevalence in my news feed the last two days.

I'd wonder if all my friends are actually cats.

I'd still be that girl that no one talks to at parties because she looks "intimidating".

Why didn't I think of that?

Also, I just realized that the SPAM control mod isn't supported in 2.0.8. For once I'm ahead of the curve. I've attached a picture of what I picture happening in just a few short days. It's been nice knowing all of you!

Start distributing spatulae. We know how to handle vermin.

And OF COURSE the research is done by a guy whose name suggests he could be related to a guy named Vlad...

A classroom. I was picking over donated Babysitters' Club books (one about werewolves...LOL) with a friend before class started, even though I should have been working on the homework I hadn't done. When the teacher settled the classroom, he had us organize into a line. I thought it was going to be a queue to present our homework (lines of poetry), so I brought my little notepad up with me to write while I waited for my turn. Instead, we were queuing for a massive buffet of Italian food.

In last night's dream, I slept with someone that was a much, much more attractive version of Alexander Ovechkin of the NHL Washington Capitals. That was pretty much it.
