Anybody in here know a solution to getting xbox live running through a DI-624 Rev A router with the latest firmware?  I talked to D-link themselves and they say it's no compatible but can probably rig something up for me (for a small fee).  Was hoping there might be some techy's in here with a fix?  It worked fine going through my switch but I can't seem to get sacred running through it either..... that's a whole other story, but now in order to play either it's pull'n and plug'n network cables and regeristing mac addy's.......  HEEEEEELLLLLLLP :!:

What exactly is the problem? So far as I knew Live didn't require any special open ports or anything. A router should router no matter what's thrown at it.

If you have XP and can install a 2nd NIC in that comp you can use ICS to get on to Live. That's what I used to do.

Well I get xbox-live not responding.... or I can play online... talk to friends with the headset, but say I buy a new game....... and it requires an update.....  It won't do the updates.  It says xbox live not responding.  As soon as I pop it into the switch direct to telus..... presto.... problem solved.

Have you tried reseting your network settings in the dashboard? Or perhaps assigning a static IP if you're already using DHCP?

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/connect/routercompatibility.htm gives some advice as well. Including this that seems to imply your router is compatible.

http://www.xbox.com/en-us/live/connect/Diagnosing.htm might help too

I've been to the xbox-live site where it says the Dlink DI-624 is compatible with xbox-live, BUT..... it all depends on what revision your router is.  Mine is REV A with firmware 1.24 (the latest firmware) and that is not compatible acording to d-link.

Roll back your firmware if you want to go through the router, then.

There are different versions of the DI-624.  Mine does not have a firmware that will work with xbox. So I can't see rolling back the firmware helping.   However D-link said they could probably fix something up for me.  *for a small fee*  yeah right like an arm or a leg!!     May end up having to buy a wireless router that is compatible.  Anyone want the old one????   :P

Wait wait wait here.

First of all what distro of Linux are you running on your Xbox?  That can make a huge difference.

I actually have a D-Link DI-624 (B) router at home, and with Slackware, Mandrake and Red Hat, it works great.

Yes...... and ..... no.    I have had it before where it would work through the router (with my current firmware) where I could play on xboxlive, and hear my buds with the headset, and could talk..... but it would never connect if it needed to do an update (eg. roster updates on hockey, or when you buy a new game the first thing it wants to do is update).  That part never worked.

you've gotta know how to tweak the internals before demo's question is even applicable.  methinks he was just screwin with you, as demo is wont to do with people.

You mean you don't remember what distro you installed?

Unless they're coming with some version of Linux pre-loaded.  If that's the case, I just might have to go out and get me one.  :)
