Shopping cart/credit card payments help please
« on: January 28, 2005, 06:28:27 AM »

Long story short, I'm single-handedly building a pretty big web-site. I'm pretty experienced with web design, but I've never been involved with online trade before. The company I'm building the site for has roughly 150 products that they plan to sell online. Does anyone know where I can find information on shopping carts & accepting online credit card payments, etc. etc.? Any help would be much appreciated.

You'll need to get SSL set up and spring for at least one SSL certificate, maybe more.  In fact, a lot of the places that sell SSL certs also can help you with the logistics of credit card transactions and whatnot.

I believe you're correct.  Verisign is where I would start.

If you're looking for one-stop shopping, godaddy.com has a shopping cart that you can purchase and integrate into your website, they have SSL certs, and they sell merchant accounts (for accepting payments).
