Title: (country==America) ? printf("Who're you voting for?") : jog_on();
Post by: Jaepheth on February 18, 2008, 09:59:28 PM
So which candidate do you like and why?

Obama?
Clinton?
McCain?
Reagan's corpse?

Personally, I think Obama is my favourite. He doesn't seem corrupt and generally appears to want to do right (in a left sort of way). Though I don't agree with his stance on gun control. (I likes my guns)

Can't possibly stomach voting for any of the big-party candidates.

I don't know if the Constitution (Whoa - what a bunch of whack jobs) (http://www.constitutionparty.com/party_platform.php)Libertarian Party candidate will be on the ballot in Ohio, but that's where my vote would go today.

I'm writing in thunder3davis for president this election.

But seriously, my decision is up in the air at the moment. It will be interesting to see how the south votes, however, given this election's candidates.

I would've voted for Hillary in the primary if I were still a registered Democrat, instead of a registered Libertarian.

So I voted for Christine Smith, Libertarian chixor.

I'm leaning towards Obama myself. I don't agree with him entirely but more so then McCain and I don't believe any one else has a chance.  :|

Oh?  Is that how it's going to be?  You just disappear for 8 months and then pop back in with your political opinions and we're supposed to bake you bread and give you a back rub for your trouble?

Hi.

Obama scares the bejeezus out of me.  His voting record is among the most liberal socialist of any in the Senate, and his comments about how he intends to run things just go to show to me that he still doesn't understand how politics works.  He's also an idealist.  Idealists are extremely dangerous, especially when they have a majority in both the House and Senate.

Clinton is a politician, with all the baggage associated therewith, but she knows how the game is played (i.e. her vote is ultimately for sale.)
McCain is also a politician, with all the associated baggage.  He seems to be the least evil of the three, but it's still like having to choose your method of slow and painful execution.

I still don't know how I'm going to vote, but if Paul is on the Indiana primary ballot, I will vote for him.

I voted Obama in the primary.

I really didn't see a point to taking a third party since it's really between Hilary, Obama or McCain. I agree more with Obama than McCain and feel that Hilary's "my way or the highway" attitude will just divide the powers that be and get nothing done. She's un-compromising and right now we need someone that's going to unite us as a people through some compromise to get what needs to be done, done.  Obama is a good speaker and will do good by the democrats AND republicans to fix what needs fixing and ensure he gets a real shot at a second term.

So what I'm trying to say is....Obama.

Hi.

You mean I'm not actually going to get bread and a back rub? Well that sucks.

Back on topic though, I agree with reimero, I like Paul, but I also agree with pickled kitten where you don't stand a chance if you aren't Obama, Clinton or McCain.

At this point, it's voting for the lesser evil. I don't really like any of them, except Obama, and liking a politician doesn't exactly get "the job" done. I'm really just waiting to see how things play out before making a finalized decision, I guess.

Wow. Concur.

Where in Indiana, may I ask? I have family there; in Marion County, Jay County, and ...Middlebury (not sure what county that's in.)
 Redkey
 Dunkirk
 Portland
 Muncie
 recognize any of those?

South Bend.  Not terribly far from Middlebury, but a decent distance from the rest.

You regged up yesterday and have done nothing but shit up the forums ever since. Why don't you take a break from you goal of rising to forums superstardom to actually lurk for awhile?

now hold on... I made one remark about trolls being above newbs... and then all hell broke loose on me... I have had almost nothing positive said to me the entire day I have been on this forum... If this is how you treat all new people you have no right to complain about how I act on here because almost everything I have said was in defense of myself and none of it was meant to be anything more than harmless banter(on my side) So do not start blaming me for how I respond to being treated like I am a lower life form...

I was going to say all this really witty yoda-ish intellectual stuff in response to this line, but instead I think I'm going to keep it simple.
Actually, I can blame you for how you react to something. You made a conscious decision to react to something a certain way, instead of another. You have the power and the ability to choose to react another way.
Many people on this forum, myself included, feel that becoming beligerent and angry when a few people point out a few things about you're writing and presentation is unneccessary. Most of us (I think I can say this now), feel that going off in a huff because your wrong is downright childish.
I understand you will be joining the military soon. You should be warned and that these two choices are "generally" frowned upon there too.
Regardless, your reaction is still your choice, and I can blame you for choosing an unneccessary or childish reaction, when you didn't have to. You do have many other options.

I thought something looked funny, but my spell checker is broke at work (love that Websense).

Thanks!  :-D

- I have no excuses for the "your/you're" mistakes, other than, I was too lazy to do the fourth "preview>read>fix>preview>read".  :-P

There are more than three steps to that process.  If you're doing any less than six, you're short changing this forum.

These are the steps I take...

...repeat until satisfied.

I say just make sure what you're about to say is either intelligent, funny, or interesting before you hit Post.

Oh, and somewhat related to the posts before.  If you want to go off on a tangent, at least find a clever way to do it.

So who likes chorizo?  I loves me some.

These are the steps I take...
  • Think
  • Write
  • Read for grammar/spelling
  • Fix
  • Read
  • Evaluate for content
  • Fix
  • Read for grammar/spelling/content again - because fixing content can generate other grammatical/spelling errors
  • Fix

Those are all good advice, but I've developed my own system over the years.

Here are my steps!

obviously someone cant read that it was all harmless banter on my part as I said in my post. I was not angry once at the corrections to my posts I was being playful when i responded to the corrections to my posts. The only thing I even came remotely angered at was the fact that after I agreed to try and use proper grammar to the best of my abilities you continued to lecture me but not about the fact i was using improper grammar but that I AGREED TO USE PROPER GRAMMAR TO RESPECT OTHERS WISHES... If you ask me the fact that you(the forum in general) scolded someone for agreeing to follow the rules is belligerent in itself. now honestly I did not expect to get so many replies so once i finish reading them all I will reply to each one if needed...

There are more than three steps to that process.

...

If I was too lazy to the fourth step, of course I was too lazy to do the fifth and sixth! I certainly didn't want to repeat the process! I was satisfied with one, two and three, with one time around.
What did you think? All the time I spend lurking here at night, I haven't learn by now. I was just damn lazy when I posted that.  :-D
