Anarchy / Image Wars
« on: May 02, 2007, 07:39:01 PM »
The rules are simple, One person starts with an Image, the next person posts one that beats the previous image, and so on.

So Ill start, with one of the geekey-er(?) images I could think of

The BFG from the Doom series

I'm looking to buy a cell phone. So do any of you have recommendations?  It has to meet the following criteria: can be used with Cingular and is a flip phone.

Also if you can think of any, I want to be able to upload "all your base" from my PC to the phone in either .mid or .mp3 format. So if you can think of any phones like that, I'd be grateful.

Anarchy / Ferwerda the Inventor
« on: March 16, 2006, 04:54:18 PM »
Alright, so I was going through the basement the other day, when I came across these really weird poster/ad things all signed by Thomas Norvin Ferwerda A.K.A "Ferwerda this inventor". These things are basically written by someone who has gone off the deep end. These posters say things like "What do you get when you put a tube in a tube? A NEW STRUCTURE", "The rope banister, straight from heaven's gates!" or "Reality stranger than fiction! Plastic, TV's Microwaves, Cars, Trains, <ETC ETC> and finally UFOs*

*A work in progress"

Has anyone else EVER heard of this guy? These posters were originally Ads in the Wall street journal Late '70s early 80's.

Hardware, Software, and Other Imperialist Crap / Loading Times?
« on: November 13, 2005, 02:58:02 PM »
Seeing as my computer has died, I have migrated to my families aging computer. It's got 2ghz P4 processor, 80 gig HDD Crap video card (nVidia GeForce MX 420 or something) and crap RAM (256)

I recently installed City of Villans which had fine load times on my dead computer, alas I kill myself waiting for the loading to finish on the family computer. dead comp specs: 1.2 ghz AMD Athalon XP
about 170 gigs altogether HDD, most used
1 gig of RAM
and a Radeon 9800 pro card.

the only HUGE difference between the comps is RAM, so if I upgraded my RAM, would load times increase (on the family comp) or is something else involved?

Hardware, Software, and Other Imperialist Crap / Boo unto ATi!!!
« on: November 12, 2005, 06:46:09 PM »
I am here to renounce my support of ATi...the graphics card company. Why? To date 550 dollars worth of equipment (probably more, but I can't remember the value of my motherboard). They killed two 250$ cards, and one 50$ card. How? Their drivers, one day I update the next second BAM! I can't play any games >< So I am switching to nVidia when I have the money. So I have warned you, and also what is the nVidia equivalent of the 9800 pro?

Hardware, Software, and Other Imperialist Crap / WMP or Winamp Radio?
« on: October 18, 2005, 02:38:06 PM »
I've seen this done before, (ex. www.radiofreezion.com) you can download a .asx file or somehow connect your media player to an IP. I want to know how I can get people to connect to ME and listen to my playlist. Preferably in a downloadable .asx file that people in my WoW guild could get and listen to. Anyone done this or have the slightest clue how to go about this?

PS. I checked google, and found some programs that can do it for you, but they also costed $$ I don't have

Hardware, Software, and Other Imperialist Crap / Missing Apps?
« on: April 14, 2005, 08:53:59 AM »
Okay heres the backround on my predicament, One day I was surfing the web, I see a website that I goto, the site doesnt work and I start getting billions of viruses (which my anti-virus was quick to point out), but on one such virus I couldnt , Repair the file, quarantine the file OR delete the file.

However I noticed that it was in my temp. Internet folder, so I goto internet options and click delete all the temp files. Then there was a long pause and XP did the one thing I ph33r most...windows' blue screen of death (dun dun duuuunnnn). Following it's retarted instructions didn't help anything.

So I figured "Hey, maybe I should install that new hard drive thats been lying around for awhile and just re-install windows" so I did. Install went fine, but I noticed one thing, my start menu had none of my games. I went to add/remove programs...once again no games...I goto my game HD and it had all my games so I ran each one and they all worked.

I wanted to know if there was any way that I could actually have my computer realize that I still had the games without having to re install them.

Thanks in advanced -Scuzz

Hardware, Software, and Other Imperialist Crap / IP Addresses?
« on: November 26, 2004, 02:34:48 PM »
Okay Simply my problem is this. Recently I got a wireless internet thing for my gaming computer, and it works. My family computer is connected using a wire, and IT works. Every so often both computers will get a little message saying "There is another computer on the network with the same IP address" and doesn't offer me any advice...also it freezes the internet on both computers even though my signal is excellent. So what should I do?

Sup people...I have a question about the life sucking brain cell killing, kicking ass game known as Doom 3...Every once in a while on a computer terminal theres a little panel that says "Power outage, Back up files" if you click it it say "Files backed up" but this isn't a form of saving...so what is it?

Yeah so as the name suggests I need some help with installing Gentoo Linux on my 2nd (60 GB) Hard drive. I have the .iso file that I got off of one of the many mirrors found on the Gentoo site (gentoo.org) So after getting a prg that reads/burns ISO's (Nero 5-burning rom) in my case I proceeded to use nero to burn the actual image onto my CD (Not burn the ISO file to the CD but well whenever I double-click the ISO file it wants to burn something onto the CD). So having done that I look at the contents of the CD and empty...So how do I get this ISO image onto the CD and install gentoo onto my computer so I can fight the man..or just have linux...and have more people call me a nerd/geek

No not a A Dosbox (If you dont understand don't ask) It's a little program, or an emulator for playing ye olde games or anything else ye olde for dos or something. Well the other day I went to the Morrowind site and thay had the 10th anniversary thing goin on, and Arena for Download! I got it along with DOSBox because XP wont run the .BAT file.
So this all comes down to my question. When I try to use DOSBox's "LOADHIGH" command (Its description is "Runs a Prg Batch File only") I type LOADHIGH arena/arena.BAT and It calles the "arena" command illegal. so HOW in hell would I get this to run my ye olde 1994 piece of goodness.

Oh and I checked the DOSBox site It wasn't helpful also It said arena was a supported Prg

Hello I have a question for all you uber-g33ks I recently installed "The ultimate DOOM" (ahh childhood memories) on the larger of my two hard drive (my non-boot HD)  and thought i would make a shortcut to my Desktop so I drag "DOOM.exe" to my destop and it make a whole new DOOM.exe not a shortcut. so I go to delete it " In use by another application", well Only windowsXP is running and XP doesn't rely on a 5 year old outated graphics shooter as we all know. So I go to add remove programs and DOOM is not on there. So I put the DOOM directory that came off the CD into the recycle bin . (it had a DOOM.exe in it) and it goes fine. So I figure well I'll just put the Desktop one in a folder then delete the folder. IT MAKES A NEW DOOM.EXE IN THE FOLDER GAHHH. so (note the on in the folder also gives me the "In use by another program" message) So what can I do I need uber-geek help!
