Kakuro
« on: April 09, 2007, 10:11:26 AM »

Does anyone else do Kakuro?  I love it.

Here's a pretty good site for it, but they only give you 5 free ones.  Anyone have a good site for it?

I tried Sudoku and hated it...my math skills are just far too lacking to manage it.

You don't really need math skills to do sudoku.  You need to know how to add to do kakuro, but for sudoku, you just have to know the difference between all the numbers from 1-9.

For example...the 1 goes straight up and down.  The 9 has a little circle on top.

I work the daily sudoku in the daily paper every morning when I get up, to get the brains focussed. You are, of course, correct. There is no math involved. It is mostly a process of elimination, an excercise in logic. Any 9 unique characters can be used.

Damn, now I'm hooked on this Kakuro thing.

Two spaces add up to three will have a one and a two.
Two spaces add up to 4 will have a 1 and a 3.
Three spaces add up to 6 will have a 1, 2 and 3.
Four spaces add up to 10 will have a 1, 2, 3 and 4.

THIS IS GREAT!

I have a whole book full.  I don't need to print one out.  I just wanted to do some on the computer.

But you're right...I'm finding that I prefer pencil and paper anyway.

I can't deal with number puzzles.  They hurt my brain.

I do my local paper's crossword puzzle every morning, though, and I'm always picking up crossword books.  I'll stick to those for now.
