Image Files?
« on: July 27, 2007, 09:34:13 AM »

Okay, so I "aquired" what I think are the images of a 2-disk game. Each "disk" has 2 files:

[blah-blah-blah].mdf
[blah-blah-blah].mds

The .mdf one is 726 Mb, ad the .mds one is only 486 bytes.

Would anyone know what program to use to restore these images to a CD?

A quick search reveals that this program should do the job.

http://www.magiciso.com/tutorials/miso-features.htm

I don't know it and never used it myself.

K3B can write mdf/mds images, but i guess that won't help you.

I think the newer versions of Daemon Tools can mount them.

Hello_Kitty_Adventure_Island.mdf
HK_Adventure_Island_Nude_Patch.mds

I can't say I've even heard of .mds or .mdf files before. Why can't you download .iso files like the rest of us?

I found it:

http://www.alcohol-soft.com/

It's a program called Alcohol 120%. I likes it, and it can make virtual CD/DVD drives so that you don't need to re-burn the CD.

Nice!  :-D

For virtual drives, Daemon Tools is better than alcohol.

Yeah, it's not a bad little program. I believe I used to use it once.

Plus it's free.

Well, since it's used to mount a downloaded image, i just assumed that alcohol would be free too   :w:

Actually only for thirty days for the program.  Or at least it used to be.  I'm not sure about the virtual drive though.

Hmmm.  Sounds like I don't really know much about it anymore.  :-D

Actually Alcohol 120 is a great program for backing up games, so I've read.  I tried it for backing up karaoke discs and wasn't quite as pleased as I am with CloneCD.
