I got a PS3 yesterday. Not, my computer already has an 802.11 G wireless receiver, and I was wondering which router would be the best way to go.

There's one at a store here in my area, for like $40, that would connect with my receiver in my comp, but I'm not so sure with the PS3.

Does anyone have any pointers?

Do you mean wireless on the PS3 as well? It should be fine unless the router is a "G" (802.11G) and the PS3 is "N". There's B, G, and N... B only works on B; G does on B and G; and N works on them all (In case you didnt already know that). As long as those are compatible on each end, there shouldn't be any problems. There's no manufacture's conflicts that I'm aware of ( such as linksys wireless card and a Netgear router, etc).
I've no idea which protocol PS3 uses; you'd need to find that out. I wouldn't think they would use "N" (too new), and I wouldn't think they'd use "B" (too old).

No, I'm afraid not. Every time I go wireless with my CAT5 wireless I get this little red X on the little TV icon on the bottom right of my computer. Then it says CABLE DISCONNECTED even though I can still get HBO. It is very technical.

I think any will do. I have one set up for my Wii. Works just fine, no issues.

Do not buy D-Link. If you're getting a router, get LinkSys. Even if it's a little more $$$.

Have two Linksys, one Netgear. I recommend either. I also second the D-Link advice; I bought a D-Link USB expansion card which turned into a nightmare. Even after I woke up, the card still wouldn't work.

I've had a couple of the net gears with no problems. The latest does 108 versus the 54 of wireless g. I like it.

No. I'have had some D-Link gear that worked fine. But I've had my share of problems with them too. So I'd rather pay $10 more and know it works, then saving $10 for something that works half the time.
