OS of choice
« on: April 25, 2008, 07:35:27 PM »

Ok kiddies its time for me to do what I joined the forum to do! talk tech! Seeing as the old vista thread died in 2005 I decided to create a newer better one!

I personally love vista even though i have only had it about half a year... It is by far the best operating system I have ever used... it just feels smoother than any I have ever used. There are some bugs but I mean how many years did it take to get the bugs out of XP? Also most bugs people have reported I have yet to experience and any driver problems are because of the manufacturers of the product the driver is for because anyone who trusts windows drivers... well that just isn't very bright!

Now please post your likes and dislikes of vista and such I want opinions and to have an actual discussion about it that is somewhat civilized... also I am sorry if I have seemed like a flaming retard up till now! I will try and be nice to my fellow geeks and control myself better in response to finally being able to use the tech part of the forum!

OSX is the same damn thing as GNOME.
It makes no sense why you should have them as separate choices.

Vista is a buggy, shitty ripoff of OSX.

FTFY

I'm typing this out on xolware, a custom OS I've compiled and installed on my toaster.

Oh yeah, I +1'd him because his original post is a shit ton better in ways of readability and coherence than the previous drivel.

I CAST NULL ON YOUR POSTS FOR NOT VOTING IN THE POLL! and if you are going to be saying its a piece of shit... back it up with a list of pros and cons... It is just like any OS it needs to be tweaked to the user and vista makes it easy to do that!

I could tell it was edited because there were capital letters and punctuation.

Let me educate you a little bit about how this place operates. I would have to do this is you had actually lurked before posting but better late then never.

Threads rarely stay on topic.

I'm an XP fan. Most stable, most secure version of windows you can get. I have been toying around with SuSE as a Linux distro, and plan on trying to turn my desk top into a Linux machine when I get my new rig built. Though since I am not a hardcore OS freak, I can't honestly see what switching will do for me, other than be a fun experiment.

A thread is like your child.  You can do your best to teach it right, give it guidance and a good foundation, but in the end it's going to go it's own way.  If you insist on keeping it on the rails you've laid out for it, you will only destroy what could have been beautiful.  Happy now?  You just turned your child into a goddam robot.

You guys don't seem to be taking this thread very seriously. Operating Systems are serious business and I am shocked that a geek forum would behave in this manner.

That being said, I don't have an operating system, I access the internet using a modified Jacquard loom.

Windows ME: Best. OS. EVAR!!

Don't get me wrong, Vista is a close second.  I lurves me some bloat.  And I can't stand it when things are compatible with what I used to have.  But my favourite thing is when it takes 3 weeks for an application to launch on brand new hardware, then for the program I'm running to crash ALL BY ITSELF!!

But I liked those blue screens ME would show me on occasion just to make me feel special.
