I guess 4 months is the adequate amount of time to find out that this black hole thing is more plausible than previously thought. By the way, the LHC was shut down until spring due to an electrical issue.

There could be problems with my layman's physics, but it seems to me one of the many weird properties of black holes is that you don't know when you've crossed the event horizon, and from your own perspective nothing will necessarily be amiss.  It will only be our grey alien observers who notice we are on the other side, and see us stretching into white noise as tidal forces to go work.  I'm sure there are some important differences for black holes on this scale (such as having a micron-sized one travel through your skull), but it still seems we would go out not with a bang, but a whimper.
