I thought this was relevant:

If anything, for the almost limitless number of jokes that can be made based upon the headline alone.

Quote
"You could think of this part of the brain like a cortical alarm bell that rings when an individual has just made a mistake or experiences uncertainty," says lead author Inzlicht, who teaches and conducts research at the University of Toronto Scarborough. "We found that religious people or even people who simply believe in the existence of God show significantly less brain activity in relation to their own errors. They're much less anxious and feel less stressed when they have made an error."

Not surprising.

Dark Matter and Dark Energy.  As concepts those are both pretty bizarre -- even to people well-versed in physics and cosmology

 Time really is an illusion

oops wrong link...

Fixed. This one I copied as well; having to do with dark matter, etc.

A lot of things in quantum mechanics rather indicate that time itself is really kind of a less-important, dirty side-effect property of the fabric of quantum space.

I think the next generation of cosmologists and theoretical mathemeticians are going to be making some huge breakthroughs in that field of study, likely in our lifetimes.

I'm a huge of Dr. Dawkins and The God Delusion is a great book! He said what I've been meaning to say for soooooo long. What I really liked about the book though, or all his books for that matter, is his passion when it comes to science. Seriously, it's because of him that I realized science could be uplifting and wondrous, in a way that nothing else can be. Then I found Carl Sagan and yeah...now I'm studying evolutionary biology. The God Delusion is an awesome book. Dr. Dawkins is obviously very enthusiastic about the topic (more than I can say for a lot of authors out there), and he writes in a way that makes me interested, too. Like Cranes said, it's because of him I like science so much. I agree with HeavyJay when it comes to Kaku, though. He's never really struck me as... I'm not sure why, but the show never really appealed to me.

My personal definition of atheism, by the way, is that you believe there's no chance of a god's existence. I know it's a little vague, and you can feel free to shoot it down, ivan.
