My Neighbourhood is Full of ANNOYING NOISES
« on: June 17, 2004, 11:10:29 AM »

From the elderly gentleman who turns his leafblower onto 'high' and paces around his driveway pointing it at nothing to the small child who seems to be yelling 'MOOOMMM!' every four seconds to the neighbours who yell loudly in French at 3 o'clock in the morning, ...

...wait, where was I going with this?

Nah, I don't work until 3.

I'm free to listen to this senseless cacophony until then.

You know, it amazes me how when I walk around my neighborhood at 9 in the morning (Given I don't have school) there are many people that aren't in work. I highly doubt that all of these people work nights. One I saw was a contractor, but you can't count him because they only work when they want to.

I live next to a halfway house. I hear all kinds of stuff from over that way.

The fact that I reside on the busiest, baddest, neighbourhood keeps me up at night somewhat. I grow tired of so many goddamn cars, and domestic disputes across from my door.

Why can't people just shut the hell up? This has been one of the things about people that always boggles my mind. Is your music that great? Is your argument that important? Is your driveway that full of leaves?

I live next to a busy freeway in a busy neighborhood right near a university.  Combine sirens every five minutes, the drunken homoerotic screams of fratboys at three in the morning, and the regular sound of gun shots ringing out, and you have a very fine combo.  Usually I leave all my windows open so I can bask in the sweet pleasant sounds of this fine and wonderful neighborhood.  It is better than meditation, or even crack.

Where is this place at again?

My new neighborhood is nice and quiet. A much better improvement over my old place. Small complex, no busy streets, hardly any kids...it's great!

I'm getting flashbacks to that Sesame Street song--Who Are The People In Your Neighborhood.

Anyhow I live on a quiet street in upper middle class suburbia.  Nice tree lined streets, almost no crime unless you count the whacko who skewered his roommate with a crossbow a couple years ago.  Just about everyone has a dog.  Neighbors are fairly friendly but not intrusive.  Pretty boring actually.

There used to be a guy who lived in the garage in the house across the street from us. He sat in the garage all day drinking beer.

Rumour has it that he used to shoot heroin between his toes, and evidence has it that he stole my dad's powersander.

Almost as nice here, except without the crossbow and we're actually dangerously close to a major university.  Luckily, I'm about 2 blocks from where the off-campus students tend to congregate, so it's quiet.  More importantly, I have a clear view southwest and am close to a transfer station!  w00t!  :D

We live downtown/on-campus for three more weeks. Then we move off to the far west side, away from drunken revelers howling on the street at bar time. Even better, our new place is within walking distance of a Walgreens and Pizza Hut! W00t!  :D

Hey that reminds me.  Everyone needs to go to Walgreens and get one of those rebate books.  There's an entry form to win 4 tickets to any nascar race in 2005 with airfare and hotel included plus $1,000 to buy me beer.  Enter the contest even if you don't like NASCAR. You can keep the money and give me the tickets.

Every other building in my appartment complex has a little slanty roof thingie over the door.  Now they've hired Polish construction workers to install little slanty roof thingies over every door and fix the crappy old ones.

I've been hearing "*hammer hammer hammer* *nailgun nailgun nailgun* *saw saw saw* Aaay, borshevski!  Granyaviwicz!  Plotzgraboldya!" for the past few weeks.

No idea.  It's only one company doing the work here, so it might be a family or something.

Good evening. Tonight on 'It's the Mind', we examine the phenomenon of déjà vu. That strange feeling we sometimes get that we've lived through something before, that what is happening now has already happened.
