Does anyone know of a halfway decent program that can burn .mp3s from a CD? Criteria: does not require registration (i.e. free)

I've been looking for a good one for a while now, and haven't found anything worth writing home about.

I don't know if this will answer your question, but you might want to try looking at CDex

You're just looking for an MP3 ripper?  I use MusicMatch Jukebox.  Works great.  Free.  You can rip MP3 files from CDs at any bitrate you want.

I normally set mine to 192kbps by default.  Typical tracks take up between 2.5 and 4 MB that way, which is still pretty good, but the audio quality is tolerable.

Fair use is a myth propogated by thieves, pirates and librarians who want to see the real control of intellectual property wrested from their rightful owners, the megacorporations who "discover" "talent" and sign them to lifetime contracts for amounts of cash disproportionate to the income they will generate (since said megacorporations also have all distributors and radio stations in their back pockets.)  Fair use doesn't exist.  It's some vague claim for breaking the law indiscriminately.

There is no possible legitimate reason for fair use to exist.

I'm too time poor to deal with computers and music files and I don't have sound at work so I just buy CDs and listen to them in a low tech portable CD player with cassette adapter.
