I recently invested in a Wacom Intuos Pro Tablet so that I can expand my bike jersey company - www.cogmonstergear.comI need to be able to re-draw the Cog Monster in different poses and actually own the artwork so that I can go national/international with my sales. Right now, it's limited to my little group of 20+ cyclist club called Black Swamp Cog Monsters. It's a hobby at best. I want it to generate residual income. Yesterday, the tablet was delivered and I set it up. It was a relatively painless process with a couple of minor hiccups related to Windows 10 specific settings that aren't explained or handled by the instructions/software. Getting used to a new HID is challenging. Add to that the fact that you're looking at a tiny circle on the screen while manipulating a pen-shaped device on your desktop and it's a bit more of a challenge. This tablet has 2048 levels of sensitivity. Accessing them via Photoshop's brush tool settings is yet another challenge. Opacity, Flow, and Brush Size are all capable of utilizing the sensitivity of the pen/tablet. The first image is just playing around with those settings. My first real drawing was just some dumb cartoon cat that I drew as I watched along on a youtube video as some girl drew it and talked about how awesome she is at drawing. I'm glad you can't see all the erased lines. My second drawing I did this morning. In order to get used to the disconnect between tablet and screen, I decided to trace something. I've always enjoyed tracing and I'm rather good at it. So, it seemed like a logical approach to gaining better control of the hardware and getting used to the software settings. Here's the cat I traced. http://onistocke.deviantart.com/art/Sideways-Glance-655951913I'll post more here as I get better.

According to a recent study, a whopping 74% (SEVENTY FOUR!) of Americans think their lives are boring. So, I'm wondering...
What do you do to keep your life exciting? #Livin'OnTheEdge
I like to mow the lawn diagonally from time to time. I eat corn on the cob by going around the cob rather than back/forth on the rows. I turn off the sound and turn on SAP and pretend I'm in a different country while I eat my TV dinner in front of the TV.

Ok... Norm(NORM!)ally, when I find links like this, I keep them to myself and dole out the favorites as I find them interesting. Though, normally, I'm not surrounded by the amazing likes of people like you. So, I'm posting the link, here. What I'd like for you to do is pick one link per week and explore how it is amazing to you and post something about that here. Post it elsewhere, if you'd like. But, whatever you do... post it here. http://futureseek.wordpress.com/The only thing happening faster than change is the rate at which we're seeing change happen. Be part of that avalanche.

I realize that I'm out on the fringe here, but I just read this article that states that 77% of apps that people download are identified through friend/family recommendation. Immediately, I thought of Malcolm Gladwell's Tipping Point where he points out how brands have reached critical mass and how it happens and who makes it happen. If you want to become rich, become a Connector and a Maven and pimp out your friends list to brands wishing for greater success. Seriously, though, I'd love to come up with a method to scrape blogs, and social media sites and combine it with behavioral data to identify the Connectors and the Mavens. Then, sell that to brand managers. ...if only I had the time and the knowledge to get there.

Last night as my daughter and I wandered through Kroger, I found myself singing along to this awful piece of shit. I stopped walking, made eye contact with Jenna and said, "In the 80s, this qualified as music. I'm sorry for my generation." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji3JcZ9Ie-I

A display of all of the weather warnings issued yesterday, 4/28. I'm shocked that we are still so helpless on our own planet.

How can you not love playoff hockey?
I can't wait until 2015 when they can go to Olympic size ice... assuming they do.
Edit: I was apparently misinformed. Someone told me that the JLA was the last arena that can't handle Olympic size rink. Apparently there is only one that CAN handle it. JLA will be the second.

I'm enrolled. Who wants to take it with me? https://www.coursera.org/course/hciucsdCoursera courses are really well run. I've already completed the Gamification course. I also started, but did not finish, the Python programming course. I didn't finish due to my own expectations for the course not being met. I would consider retaking that one, though. Who's in?

I'm putting this in Entertainment because, I get a kick out of their suggestions every time they send them.
My resume, for those who don't know, shows that I have been a computer programmer for 17 years - currently working for a marketing research firm - and that, with the aid of an MBA earned in 2012, I have climbed my way into IT management. I have the word "Director" in my title which explains many of their dumb suggestions - including "Funeral Director"
Today's Weird Tingly Feeling: Global Chemist Manager Eaton Toledo, Ohio Area
Principal Catholic Diocese of Toledo Toledo, Ohio Area
Vice President of Rail Repair Operations The Andersons, Inc. Toledo, Ohio Area
In the spirit of Fake It Until You Make It, I think I will apply for the principal position.

For this year, I've been trying to keep a daily log of things I've learned (AKA Random useless thoughts from BizB) I'll share them here periodically
2014 Things I learned - or thoughts I've pondered... This week.. 4/13: Bella must be taken off her leash AFTER you're in the yard 4/14: "Every time" and "always" are subjective when describing the layout of an XML file 4/15: Screw off cap bottles can't be reused for craft brew 4/16: Mariah likes roller coasters more than Nicole. Mind blown 4/17: 7pm doesn't mean 7pm at belle tire - even if they've had your car since 8am 4/18: Bella will wait in the yard 4/19: Mt Mitchell... I got this 4/20: Sleeping in is good, if you can get there. Also, FB is dumb and I'm going back to GTG
