I was listening to an intersting program on the radio the other day in which an instructor from ~~Lolberty~~ Liberty University was trying to explain how the human eye and ear are irrefutable proof of human creation. When asked about some of the 'design flaws' of the human ear (why children are very suspect to ear infections and the such) his response was basically 'Well, in the very start of things, everything was perfect and then sin entered the world and that's why it's not perfect.'

In short, his response was the typical 'sin-cursed world lol' copout. As much as I really do enjoy listening to Christian radio, sometimes I really wish I could reach though the radiowaves and start slapping some of these people around.

A very good question. Firstly, I've seen pictures and it looks extremely well put together (physically). Everything looks really realistic (aside from the creationism) and the animatronics seem top knotch. I'm also a bit of a creationism fan, so I'd like to see what they've done there. I'm personally psyched to see the Noah's Ark section that I've been interested in since I was a kid (the whole bit about cultures all over the world having a similar deluge story, the theoretical construction of a boat capable of doing what it apparently did, ect), I just hope they don't cop out on the engineering and say 'well God held the whole thing together'.

As far as i read, the Deluge mith could come from something like the flooding of the Black Sea around 7-8000 years ago. That theory is contested (big surprise), and i don't know enough geology to have an opinion on that matter, but probably a much smaller flood, one that maybe wiped out a village, could explain it. You know that the bible authors had incorporated a lot of other stories from different cultures, and a story about a small flood could become a story about a total flood in a few generations.

On a different note, i would probably get very depressed in that museum.

My real issue with this, is that they have the gall to call it a 'museum' in the first place. Don't try to lump this in with the same category as the Smithsonian. If they called it 'Bibleland' or some such thing, the it wouldn't bother me as much.

It would seem that he could go either way with this act and succeed. I have known people that are right in tune with his message - on the serious - and they can actually function otherwise in society without supervision.

On the other hand, look at the shitty state the world is in. When you think that it's people like that (i don't mean right wing cristians, i mean idiots that are proud of the fact they are idiots, they come in all sizes/cultures) that make most of the decisions, it all becomes clear.

Sorry for the rant, i wanted to say more but i've calmed down a bit.

That's just it. I'm sure that they don't think that there are any flaws in their thinking. They're actually proud of being so [self proclaimingly] clever or in-tune or whatever.

He goes on and on with the 'how'd all this material just pop outta nowhere' ranting and somehow doesn't at all see that the theory of 'the magical God that can create all we have' appears or pre-exists is no less fantastic, and in my opinion, more so.

I had a friend who was by any other measure a very intelligent guy, witty-quick-and knowledgable, blah-blah, yet when I questioned him once about the issue of fossiles his reply was in this vein:

" ... Satan has morphed elephant bones to appear as if they were from some other creature to trick us and marine evidence high atop mountains and in deserts only prove the Noahs flood story ... "

There was more but that is the gist of the types of answers I got.

I am with you in fearing for the state of the world when people like this get into positions of power and responsibility, and the more I look around the more nerrrrrvous I get.
