Title: Hi people
Post by: MrBrody on December 11, 2012, 12:07:28 AM
Hello all,
I registered here a long while ago, but by lack of time postponed my presentation and everything, to today. Because one more of these annoying questions went across my way again...I will talk more about that question in the appropriate place of this forum (in short: I used to use hobocopy to copy videos locked against access, that used to be created by youtube when streaming a video. So I would get the .flv file, with no modification, and no software needed except that "hobocopy" script that would call a windows utility that overrides the access lock on the video and copies it "as it is now". Problem is, recent flash plugin does not store anything on hard disk anymore, everything is on RAM, and by the size of the file I guess it's mixed up with a lot of other stuff internal to the flash plugin. So I came to see if anyone here knew something about extracting media data from memory dumps, or at least someone who would have tried that, and would understand my need: I do not look for short lived programs that would do it only now, I want to understand how to do it with minimal resort to third-party "obscure" utilities. Because my feeling is, they are about to win the war against "easy" downloading of their stuff - all they need to do is encrypt it like Itunes does - and I want to keep up with their defenses before that happens. Sorry, it was not short!)

So, as you would have understood by now, I like to dig in computer stuff but have not much time for that right now. So I come here to find people who also like to do that, and exchange with them; and also to share all funny things that would come across my mind of course. First time on such a "big" English forum (I am Frrrrench!), but well, I hope everything will go alright!

EDIT: Ouch, Haven't seen you "50 post" rule. Ok, it will take me time to talk about my problem, then...true computer stuff knowledge is really like an arcane knowledge, you really need to fight for it, fight to find its pieces...and it needs time...and I don't have time!! PhD students NEVER have time...

It depends on what your definition of anyone is.  Somewhere and somewhere else are definitely gone.
