Title: Hello, my name is Victor Cox.
Post by: Victor Cox on December 13, 2010, 08:47:49 PM
Hello. My name is Victor Cox, and I like cats. I decided to partake in registering on your fine forums so that I could discuss cats with individuals who also share my passion for our feline friends.

DID YOU KNOW?
A cat's heart beats twice as fast as a human heart, at 110 to 140 beats per minute.

I have two cats, Beethoven and Neil Armstrong, and they are my world. Beethoven is a black domestic short hair who has quite a nasty temper! However, when he is not looking kill other cats, he is curling up on the sofa and enjoying a good sleep as any cat likes to do.

DID YOU KNOW?
Cats are the sleepiest of all mammals. They spend 16 hours of each day sleeping. With that in mind, a seven year old cat has only been awake for two years of its life!

Neil Armstrong, on the other hand, is very docile and friendly. Unfortunately he is also quite dim and, I suspect, slightly retarded. Neil Armstrong, for as long as I have had him (six years), has had a bizarre tendency to just sit and stare at a wall for what feels like hours. Sometimes he will do it sitting up, other times laying down. It is very peculiar.

DID YOU KNOW?
A cat's ear pivots 180 degrees. They have 30 muscles in each ear, and use twelve or more muscles to control their ear movement.

I used to own three cats. The other cat, Lucifer, was a wonderful tabby cat with tiger-like markings. I suspect that Lucifer suffered from some form of retardation even more than Neil Armstrong, as his inability to distinguish between safe and unsafe areas was the cause of his demise. I really do miss Lucifer. He was quite the fan of tuna, but then again what cat isn't!

I rememer when Lucifer was just a kitten and I fed him tuna for the first time. He was no larger than a disembodied human head, but he cleaned three full cans of tuna. I was very proud of his voracious appetite, at least until he threw up all over the living room carpet. I needed to buy a new can of Comet that day.

DID YOU KNOW?
At birth, kittens can't see or hear.   Cats open their eyes after five days and begin to develop their eyesight and hearing at approximately 2 weeks.  They begin to walk at 20 days.

Beethoven has taken over the role of slob from Lucifer. He has a tendency to eat almost anything I put down for him. He is not a fussy cat and, much to my relief, does not refuse any brand of cat food. Unfortunately, he isn't fussy towards human food either. Beethoven is not shy and frequently tries to take food from my plate when I am not looking. I recall the morning that he stole a slice of bacon from my plate, as well as the time he recently made off with a whole cob of corn. The corn proved to be a struggle for Beethoven, as it was very heavy for his little mouth to carry and he dropped it several times.

DID YOU KNOW?
The Giraffe, Camel and Cat are the only animals that walk by moving both their left feet, then both their right feet, when walking.  This method of walking ensures speed, agility and silence.

Neil Armstrong is my primary source of entertainment. Much like that Japanese cat that has gone viral on YouTube, Neil Armstrong enjoys jumping into empty boxes regardless of size. I recall the one time I threw him in the dumpster, not aware that he had been hiding in the box to my new television. Another time he jumped into an empty beer box. This sight amused me greatly, and I offered him a small amount of beer which he happily lapped up and then slept off.

DID YOU KNOW?
"In an average year, American cat owners spend $2.15 billion on cat food and $295 million on kitty litter."

Cats are my life. My passion. Beethoven and Neil Armstrong are my companions, and I hope that you will accept not just me, but them as well.

Want my cat?  Her name is Buttercup and I can't stand her.

It's feels really weird to not like her though because I do love cats.  I've always had boy cats though, this is my first girl cat and I just can't stand her.  Then again, if Bill or Percy peed on the bathroom rug every other day, or meowed so loud every morning at 5 am so that it woke up the baby, and if they scratched up the furniture and the baby mat...I probably would have disliked them as well.

Welcome to you and your cats.

Also LOL COX!!!

Welcome to the geekery, and let me be the first to tell you I could really care less about your housepets.

I hope your topics of conversation get a little more interesting than your collection of Felis domesticus, because getting that in depth about your animals tends to make me think you're either obsessive, lonely, or both.  Do you have any other interests aside from my lun...  er... your pets?

Lunch is an important meal...  It's a certain degree of self interest that keeps me from completely not caring.

Maybe you should be posting this over on the Cat Fancy boards? They'd probably be more receptive.

Only true for human athletes. Us regular humans are at 60 to 100.

I have 4 cats.

If you have to ask, you can't afford it.

Even if I could, I don't think I would buy it.

Please don't be me and do a GIS for "Victor Cocks" to look for a sarcastic image macro without thinking about the possible results.

Goddamnit.
