I just saw The Book of Eli, which is along the same lines... Post-apocalypse, only a few people still alive, every female is fair game, etc.

As usual Denzel did a pretty good job playing the role of Eli. I think this film was a little better than The Road simply because there was more meat to it - They explained what was going on in the movie, and why it was going on, whereas in The Road, the focus was ONLY on the man and the boy. Though, I'll admit the plot of Eli was pretty easily guessed if you know anything about organized religion.

I totally forgot I created this YEARS ago. That logo is PRICELESS!

Stockpiling sandwiches...that's about it.

Rapid fire... this way you don't have to go out in the kitchen and make a sandwich afterwards. Good thinking!

I guess when the world comes to an end there will be no spam filters.

Currently, I am stock piling guns and ammunition, and am attempting to locate and contact thunder3davis in an effort to pair with him to better ensure my survival.

I forgot to update this thread after last Sundays lifting session.

I broke out the bench shirt again and got some help from one of the more experienced power lifters on the east coast. After it was set correctly, I was able to work up to 410 pounds for a double. Let me tell you... the amount of pressure felt with the shirt on with that kind of weight is insane! I've never felt anything like that before in my life, and I still have to use more weight to get the bar to touch my chest!

So here's where I stand in my main three lifts, at 192 pounds of body weight at about 5' 10":

Squat: 375lbs
Bench: 300lbs raw or 410lbs shirted
Deadlift: 420lbs

That's scary that you were able to provide a link to that book that quickly... What if you need to burn that book for fuel to keep warm?

So last night I watched The Road (really... that's a link to the full movie. It uses some kind of jewplayer or something... it says it in the bottom left corner when it loads up) and don't really know what to make out of the movie yet, and it's been nearly 14 hours.

It kind of felt like I was watching Postman, or even Water World all over again, or maybe even 2012 - I don't know. As usual, it's a movie that takes place after the world has come to an end - civilization as we know it has been shattered, and there are few humans left on the face of the earth.

I guess I'm just getting sick of all of these "end of the world" movies that keep on coming out of Hollywood as we near 2012. It's no different from me saying the world is going to end in 2099 since my Windows 7 calender only goes that far.

Wait. You spent that kind of money on hardware and yet you're not sure of what exactly it can do? That's a very strong setup. What operating system are you using to try and take advantage of 12 gigs of ram? Please don't say something like Windows XP Pro...

They do help to prevent injuries when doing higher weights if used correctly, and they will also enable the lifter to lift more weight since it gives you recoil on the bottom of the lift.

Think of a shirt kind of like how a donut is used right before going up to bat in baseball. Using the bat with a weight on it gets you used to a heavier load. Then when it's time to bat, you get rid of the donut and swing with just the bat - which feels like it's half as much because you were used to the heavier weight.

Lifters that train with shirts usually see their raw (without a shirt) bench go up a decent amount as well. Though if you're someone who has just started lifting recently and is looking for a good way to get your bench game up, I wouldn't recommend going online and spending 200 on a bench shirt.

normally, walking for an hour to your nearby place will help to burn out atleast 325-350 calories everyday. i did that for a whole month and i see big difference in body. see more pics? click here http://www.abelgas.zzl.org/

You're probably some fat fuck spammer who can't lose a pound of fat if someone put a gun to your head.

Sorry... Roid rage.

So tonight was the first night that I've used a bench shirt to bench. Real quick (I doubt anyone will know what it is), a bench shirt is a special shirt that is so stiff that you have to pull the weight down towards your chest to touch.

I've never used one before and was certainly nervous about using it because it was uncharted territory. I worked up to 315 pounds for an easy three reps, but it wasn't enough weight to have it touch my chest - That's how strong bench shirts are!

That can't be done.

You can maybe put an image of a DVD on the usb drive, then mount the image. But the each host computer will need a program to read the image, then also be able to play the file using the right decompresser / codecs. I suppose you can put that all on the same thumb drive... It's more trouble than it's worth. Just buy the DVD.

Let me know how it goes.

If I had to pick two tips from that link I posted a LONG time ago, I'd say focus on going with a wide stance with your toes slightly pointed out and make sure your ass / hips and moving back first before bending your knees. Those are two common things I see most people do wrong when they attempt to squat. Well, and not go low enough. I've only seen about three people in my gym go low enough on a squat to be counted as a real lift in a competition. Then again they're not competing... sooo....

Hey xolik, have you made any gains on your squat? I looked back a few pages in this thread and remember us talking about it for a few posts and was curious as to how you made out.

Wow, Chris!  Quite an accomplishment!  Congratulations!

Thanks!

Next stop is 495 pounds... that's going to take some serious work, that's for sure!

273
Historically for me, those two simple things are enough for me to drop 5-8 pounds.  My goal is to lose a little bit more than that, so I'm going to have to work something else out too, but as I mentioned, I'm lazy, so I haven't figured out what just yet.

You're off to a pretty good start there Demo. Eat less burn more. I don't think I've posted this here, but every few pounds off you should re-calculate your resting metabolic rate since it changes as weight changes. Hence why for many people the first X amount of pounds are easy to get off, and then they just kind of stop. Here's a link to an online BMR calculator. It could come in handy for some as you keep going with it.

Thanks to my friend for pushing me to deadlift 405, I was actually able to get it today, breaking my old personal record of 385 by 20 pounds!

275
I am very proud of all of you.

So... is there any way for me to have similar results, but without eating less, drinking less, exercising or invasive surgery?

'Cause if there is, I'm in!

Increase the amount of caffeine you're taking. It should help speed up your metabolism somewhat.

I'm going the opposite direction of all of you guys - I'm trying to gain weight. My target is 190/195 pounds @ 5' 10", and I'm at 187 pounds right now. I'm actually pretty surprised how you are all doing in terms of losing weight. What is everyone doing to get the pounds off? Eating less? Working out more? Doing a little of both?
