Microsoft's business model:

Steal code from our competitors
Include that code into our products
Fight the law suits as long as possible
Settle out of court for much less money than it would have cost us to buy the code we stole (at today's prices)
Continue to integrate competitors code in our shoddy products and leave lots of security holes
Create "new versions" of our crappy product which are just the same old same old with different security holes and sell those new versions as "new products"
and now....
