XP question
« on: March 22, 2007, 09:27:11 AM »

I don't use XP, but I have a lot of clients who do on their local workstations.

You know the process by which XP will do an auto-discovery of shared printers on a workgroup?

Do any of you XP experts know how to shut that off?

Go into My Computer, Pick tool then Folder Option. Click On the View tab. At the top under Files and Folders, uncheck "Automatically search for network folders & Printers"

Wait - you're probably wanting to turn off it "Finding New Hardware", so you can do it yourself and not have 15 pop-ups interrupt your install trying to install themslves. I dont know that. Sorry.

You might encounter problems with suckers that want to plug in a USB stick if you disable UPnP.
