Passing the time
« on: April 22, 2008, 07:34:03 PM »

So we've bitched about our jobs, we've bitched about bitching about our jobs, and a great deal of the dumbest questions ever heard come from our workplace. Now I'd like to know what kind of rituals everyone has to pass the time at their place of work.

Now if my nightmares are true and there really isn't any time to goof around out there, just let me know and I'll end it now. Either that or share an old time-passing activity you had at a previous job.

One of my favourite past times involves calling my voicemail system. If I have no messages, I can mess around with it like this:

*2* - "No new messages. To rec-"
*#* - "Invalid entry. If you need help, pres-"
*2* - "No new messages. To rec-"
*#* - "Invalid entry. If you need help, pres-"
*2* - "No new messages. To rec-" . . .

If it time it just right, I get a pretty nice beat going.

Edit: Oh, and all those paint pictures I made that one time.

Look at you, hacker: a pathetic creature of meat and bone, panting and sweating as you run through my corridors. How can you challenge a perfect, immortal machine?

Scrabulous, message boards, alchemy on yahoo games.  What more could one need?

Each night, at home, with the help of the Firefox plug-in, download helper, I download television shows via surfthechannel.com and store them on my USB drive.  Then, during the day, I use VLC player with the "Always on top" setting engaged and the player located in the bottom right 1/8th of the right hand monitor, I watch the previously downloaded shows.  I'm rarely required to actually watch the shows.  They're more like really poorly done radio dramas.

I also RDP to my home computer where I am connected to IRC.  There, I chat with the geekforum (OMGLOLWTFBBQ) crew.

Plus, I surf the intarwebs.
