DANG! WITH EMPHASIS!!
« on: September 12, 2008, 11:28:44 AM »

Anybody else have trouble getting this site to load? For some reason, this site will NOT load until it times out once; then you hit "try again" - and it loads immediately.
It doesnt matter how many times you close/restart the browser (or machine); and it doesnt happen on any other site but this one. It been going on for a long time; but since it was just this site, I just dealt with it, but HOLY COW I AINT IN THE DARN MOOD FOR IT RIGHT NOW.
Its not just the index page either (or my bookmark) - if I am reading posts and reply and hit submit- Im back to the same waiting game. I dont post as much anymore cos its so DARN MADDENING to forget to use Notepad first; make a quick reply, and it just sits there spinning wheels until I no longer wanna mess with waiting so long to make a quick little post. This one, as a matter of fact, I will surely have to copy into notepad (textedit) and wait for my next opportunity to connect to the site to paste it in and hit reply. Then, it'll spin and time out; and Ill hit 'tryagain' and it'll tell me there's POST DATA, etc. so I hit "OK" and it times out again, then I close the browser/ reopen it, Try to get the geekery loaded again, and see that it lost my post, so paste it in again and hit reply.....

PLEASE. SOMEONE say its happening to you. (By the way this is on my Macbook w/Firefox, AND my windows pcs w/firefox. - both wireless and cat5 connections)

It has happened to me!

Not every single time I come to the site from somewhere else, but it does happen. I thought it was happening with other sites as well so I usually shrug it off as inevitable. I deal with everyone else's internet problems at work too much to worry about mine as long as I can get it to function.

EDIT: It happens less with making posts on my end and more going to the index page. I can't tell if it's crap wireless or whatever this issue is.

(This is on IE Vista with wireless networks on campus and at my place, two different providers)

I dont know, dont know how to tell, don't know how to fix it if I could tell, and am manually searching the Tech forum for when you posted the 'how to' previously before I ask again. :-)

I had this going on a while back and brought it up.

Hasn't been doing it for a while now.  There were also several others having this issue.

If the search function worked I'd tell you to look at it.

Try opening a DOS prompt and type "ipconfig /flushdns" and do a restart and see what happens.

There has been no issues reported to me from my provider about DNS issues / server issues. But if more than one person is having this same problem, then I'll bring it to the attention of my provider since that's what they're there for.

No problems whatsoever and I am far away, flushing the dns is a good option. Or set a ping to the webserver if it's slow to see if you're lagging.

Try opening a DOS prompt and type "ipconfig /flushdns"
Anyone know how to get to command line on a mac? ( OS X 10.5.4 )
And if you do; what commands would these be? (the ipconfig/flushdns and ping)

I'd also peer at my router for explanations were I you.

Occasionally my router decides that google.com is no good!
