Criminal Background check for Canada?

Ok, I work for a small company who doesn't pay for background checks which are free in most states. I've googled and googled and been all over the government website and can't find anything but articles referring to a database. Anyone now of a website search engine for criminal background checks?  :?:

n answer to your request I must advise you that canadian Privacy laws
do not permit the relase of personal information about individuals, even
incarcerated or former offenders.

I would suggest that you contact your local police force that should be
able to help you.
