...Rey learns how to essentially use The Force within what seems to be MAYBE 3 days time...

Keyword: "seems". I think there is an explanation for this that will come up in the next movie. Memory wipe or something cliché like that.

Hi Chris, I'm good tks. We had an ice storm last night and I was out of power for a while. Not much new with me. Work + kids keeps me busy. I hit 40. Does that make me an old man by BizB standards? lol

What's going on with you?

Anarchy / Re: Lateness Policies
« on: March 20, 2012, 05:55:26 AM »
Can you provide a context? What kind of business is this? What kind of jobs? How broad does the policy need to be (strictly being late, or covering various scenarios such as inclement weather, notification requirements, etc).

Having a policy is one thing, but it is useless on its own. Managers need to manage, and ideally it is done in a consistent way from one to the next. Typically, what many organisation will use is a progressive discipline mechanism (from verbal warniing, to written warning, to financial penality, suspension, demotion, termination). Not to say that they go trough each steps. One might go with written warning, then suspension. These are the typical disciplinary options. It depends on the nature of the work, how easy it is to replace the worker, and the corporate culture.

Typically, before applying discipline, certain factors are taken into consideration. Examples:
- is this a first incident or a reoccuring one?
- was the employee late for reasons within his control or not?
- did the employee display signs that they were genuinly sorry?
- How did we treat similar cases of lateness previously?
etc...

The best way to deal with lateness is not via a policy, but via a dialogue. Having a policy is good, but it's worthless on is own. A manager has to sit down and be clear about their expectations. Employees have to understand why it is important to be on time, and how being late impacts client service and collegues. Sometimes, there can be personal circumstance which make it difficult for an employee to get to work on time, and employers should explore alternate options where possible (such as a change in schedule to accomodate the employee, where warranted).

It is an excuse Detta. The day starts at 6:30 am and it's 8:30 pm before you can have any time for yourself. By then, sitting on a couch watching TV sounds pretty good. I get it!

Temperature is really strange this year. One day it will be 5 degrees. The next day, 45.

Just an update: I lost 12 lbs between October and December. I couldn't keep up with my initial routine (runing 3 times a week + zumba 3 times a week). Turns out my body is aging and it's affecting me more than I thought it would.

After Xmas the bad eating habbits partially returned. I had to put the workouts aside for a little bit. Was super busy with work and we moved into a new house at the end of November. I still have work to do in terms of boxes and hanging up picutre frames and curtains, etc. The good things is we're just outside the city on a 1 acre lot so there's a lot of time spend outside with the kids, and that's always good exercise.

I regained 6 lbs since Xmas and it is pissing me off so I'm starting to run again, and my schedule is a bit more reasonable lately. Running in the winter is harder motivation wise however. I HATE the cold. But I still have a good 20 lbs to loose.

Guys I don't really want to eat someone else's shit that I shit.

I'm with you there. I mean, for this to happen you have to first find an individual who needs to take a shit. OK that's easy. Then you'd need to stuff them up your ass. Now that's not an easy feat I would imagine. Next you need to shit them back out. I guess that wouldn't be so bad since the path was already cleared going in. Once they're out, they can have their shit, thus allowing you to have this elusive poo poo platter. It seems like a lot of work and I'm just not seeing the ROI on this one.

I lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks. I also injured myself and will probably need to stop running.  :x

So are you ever comming back or were you just looking for a back link with no SEO value at all?

Also, I don't know much about these tug wars, but they sound pretty gay.

Do you like Zumba? I've heard that it's a great workout but never tried it myself.

Love it. It's more motivating because I'm not just working out, but playing a game at the same time. The downside is that the sensor doesn't always work well, but what ever.

I didn't see any mention about cutting out the gravy.

That's that hardest part. I have been a poutine advocate for so many years!

I've decided to get on the weight loss wagon too. I'm a stubborn SOB and once I decide I'm going to do something, I usually stick to it. I wanted a realistic goal which is to loose 15 lbs by x-mas. And then during the holidays, I can eat like a maniac and regain those 15 lbs in a week! (Kidding).

So I started with:

PS3 Zumba. Min 20 mins 5 night a week. Sometimes I do 40 mins.

I joined a running group. So during my lunch break, I will run/walk for about 20 minutes and this will happen 3 days a week.

Eating: I decided to stop drinking pop cold turkey. Same goes for chips. I am making an effort to eat something between meals (like a fruit or some nuts. I know it sounds pretty gay...). The worse is at night after supper. I always want to eat. I don't. I wait till I finish my Zumba, then eat a fruit and fight the urder to over indulge. I am NOT giving up the occasion beer or scotch.

It's only been a week since I started so I have no results to share. We'll see how it goes or how long I'll hang in there, but so far so good.

Yeah... When he sent me the picture, the e-mail subject read "Got a little trim".

Hard to say with that monkey in the way.

I'm still confused about why he sent it to me in the first place. Sure, there's no girls on the intrawebs, but there's plenty of pictures of girls.
